As always, next time you see a big celebrity at the Crunchyroll anime awards, remind yourself how they can afford to dress the dubbing industry up like it’s the Met Gala when underneath all that it’s actors struggling to make ends meet and translation done by shitty robots they don’t have to pay.
After publishing this article, I've heard from many that CR seems to be using AI to produce dub CCs. Now, thanks to a slip-up CR had with episode 6 dub of The Banished Court Magician, we can say that with 100% certainty: Crunchyroll is using the AI service Ollang.com for its dub closed captions!

I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

A little thing that works for me, maybe it can work for you, is that Black Friday week is also "Focused Unsubscribing Week". EVERY company that ever got you on their mailing list will send an email this week. Make an intention as you enter the week to unsub, not just ignore, to anyone you're over.

A couple weeks ago heavily scented detergent got splashed on my pants and since then I've washed them, soaked them in vinegar, washed them again with baking soda, let them sit dry in a sealed bag with baking soda for a week, sprayed them with vodka and washed them a third time

Nothing like going to an upcoming author talk to get me to, uh, actually sit down and read the author's books

ADDING. A Living will or medical directive for EVERYONE. I know folks that follow me that are estranged from their families. Do make sure someone you trust will legally be able to follow your wishes if you become incapacitated!!
Because it came up in discussion with my family today I wanted to make my periodic reminder to folks to GET A WILL.
If you have a long time partner/Spouse, own any property, have kids or pets Having a will is very very very very important
