Very excited to say that 404 Media's zine about ICE Surveillance is here. If you ordered a print copy, I put it in the mail last week. If not, we of course think the info inside is very important so here's a free PDF. We also translated it into Spanish:

literally nothing has changed in fact it has accelerated here. As I have been saying we are being pacified by the media and our leaders and it is intentional city leadership are trying to get the city "back to normal" so it does not impact large corporations.
Absolutely surreal to continue to hear about drawdowns and lowered temperatures and things calming down in Minneapolis when, as far as I can tell, literally nothing has changed on the ground

Amazing outpouring of working-class solidarity tonight as thousands turned out for vigils organized by @nationalnurses.bsky.social in memory of union member Alex Pretti, murdered by ICE.

Mass rallies, protests, and student walkouts are called tomorrow as demonstrations show no signs of stopping.
Vigil for Alex Pretti. 🥺

Kansas bills creating bounties to go after trans people in bathrooms, Texas bills creating bounties to go after people using and transporting abortion pills—the desired outcome is clear: harassment and surveillance curtailing the movement and bodily autonomy of women and LGBTQ people everywhere.

When you feel yourself becoming complacent or surrendering to hopelessness or apathy, remember that everything that exists today exists because someone(s) dreamt it up and decided to put in the work to make it a reality. We can create new ways of doing things, new ways of being, new worlds.

This isn't mine, and I can't definitively find the original source. But I love this little bit of wisdom:

"If you're a fifteen-minute walk from a coffee shop, but the server there has to drive an hour to get to work, you don't live in a walkable city. You live in a theme park."
For all the fearmongering about capital flight from New York City, there’s an exodus few want to talk about: working people.

Sky-high rents and outrageous child care costs are already pushing families out of the city they keep running.

That’s what we have to change.

Minneapolis has seen a stunning 1,646% spike in calls from families who can't pay rent because they're afraid to leave their homes to work.

This is state violence manufacturing housing precarity in real time.

People should not be facing eviction when their city is under occupation.

I think a lot of us get hope wrong. Hope, I do not believe, is an emotion. In fact, hope makes space for lots of emotions to exist alongside it. You can DO hope scared, angry, sad etc...

Hope doesn't find us. We make hope through action and struggle. It's a practice of living and is re-made daily.

This is why masking in public, in an n95 or better, is a necessary act of resistance. BIPOC, disabled, immigrant, lgbtq esp trans folks… they’re all more vulnerable to illness & less resourced to recover.

The fascists know this. Your unmasked face their weapon.

Mask up to disarm them.

it's very clear that this is a template for how they're going to approach other cities

they do not and will not have enough people to do it everywhere all at once but if you live in a city there's a very good chance that an occupying army will show up at your door in the next few years
I know people on Bsky know this but I hope it filters out: The feds are OCCUPYING the Twin Cities. This is a blockade, a siege. They are shutting down economic and civic activity. They are conducting "papers please" stops. They are criminalizing being a bystander/witness.

You could be next.

Last week, Austin PD called ICE to turn in a woman from Honduras and her US-born 5 year-old daughter.

They only knew about them because the woman called 911 for help with a domestic disturbance. She needed help and they handed her over to ICE.

The police don’t care about protecting you.
I keep seeing people asking why the police aren't arresting ICE or protecting people from ICE and I desperately need you to understand that the police aren't protecting you from ICE because protecting YOU is not and never has been their function and that's why we need to defund them.
