The thing about Mamdani is that he’s a talented politician but not otherworldly or one in a billion, he’s just a competent guy with popular ideas who ran against an entitled piece of shit and to me it’s a lot more optimistic to imagine 1000 campaigns like his than to view him as a unique phenomenon

Quite possibly best political analysis around atm. Yes it is UK but definitely applicable in NZ & Australia too. Going to rewatch again tonight.
I do appear to be delivering this episode from beyond the grave, but it was fun to chat about the long-term decline of the two-party system and the huge structural challenges facing British politics.

I have never been intimidated by an unhoused person around Auckland. I often say kia ora, give any change, or stop and chat. None have ever been drunk. OTOH, i have often given the drunk young men on Ponsonby Rd and the waterfront bars wide berth. #nzpol
