Big Pharma guy here (>35 years). It does indeed work out that way financially (and for "Big Hospital" too). Just don't give folks the impression that we're in favor of them - RFK Jr. and his stooges make me incandescent with rage. I actually have to meter out the time I spend thinking about them!

How is it that I'm just now learning that there's a Tony Kiritsis film coming from Gus Van Sant, starring Bill Skarsgard? www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHAw...

I consider myself a Wally Wood fan (with several originals of my own) but... I didn't know about this. Apparently in the early 60's Wally pitched a Sunday newspaper strip showcasing famous people, and made up some presentation pieces, like this one.

Due to a chain of circumstances, I was alone in the dorms for Thanksgiving. I had no cash and the only restaurant that took checks wasn’t open. (Nobody took plastic in those days.)

Thus it was that I raided my (absent) roommates’ change jars and made my Thanksgiving meal from vending machines.

all the Dems TV ads I saw before the election were about lower taxes for the middle classes or whatever, all the GOP ads were about mental transphobic stuff, but crucially their way in wasn't "we think X is bad" but "Kamala is obsessed with X and she loooooooves it all", and people fell for it!

President Donald Trump’s campaign to redistrict his way to a House majority in the 2026 midterms may be beginning to backfire. Here's why. 👇

Baristas in 40 cities have walked off the job on the busiest day of Starbucks' year.

Upwards of 12,000 @sbworkersunited.org members could ultimately go on strike as the union escalates.

whatever you think of Spanberger, the fact that her opponent ran a campaign based almost entirely on transphobia and is on track to eat shit in the biggest blowout the state has seen since 2009 is unambiguously a huge win
Earle-Sears ran what felt like 12 billion ads about how much she hated trans kids and I didn’t hear a single pundit say she should stick to real issues that affect real people.

I agree 100% with this. Most Americans, most of the time, do not want to think about politics. But this is a time when we have to.

A solid majority of this country hates what Trump is doing *once they get a good look at what that is*.
"normies do not care about this thing and so it is no use raising a stink" is imho just an excuse for not doing politics, which is the job of making normies care about something

- VLOOKUP (and HLOOKUP) are case-insensitive
- COUNTIF only works on strings < 255 characters
- I still don't understand how Excel handles dates
