Blade is funny because at the time it was pretty cool but not wildly unprecedented as an action movie, but in the 2020s, Disney's best minds keeping looking at it in complete disbelief like, "how the fuck do you do that???"

Just staggering that the government announces plans to hugely increase the number of trials determined by a judge rather than a jury, *and in the same week* nobbles a judge they don't trust to give them the outcome they're after.
Removal of judge in Palestine Action ban legal challenge ‘deeply concerning’... so it looks like the classic British establishment stitch-up is underway. "This raises serious questions around the lack of impartiality and transparency in our judicial system" www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

My book Where We Stand, Where We fall is now up for pre-order. It's about the politics of Doctor Who, the themes the show keeps returning to over sixty years.

I mentioned this last week, but now there's a proper post about it, with a 30% discount code from the publisher: lmmyles.com/2025/11/26/b...

This constant messaging from the political establishment that anyone seeking fairer taxation of ultra wealth is a fantasist wears thinner by the day. studies and real world examples of it being applied successfully exist but it is in the interests of their paymasters to convince the public otherwise
Criticise your political opponent's suggestions, refute their solutions, by all means.
There's no need for ridicule or ad hominem attacks.

Reeves' remarks have rightly backfired. Now, everyone understands @zackpolanski.bsky.social has spooked Labour (& that their comms are still a disaster).

three people buying a book we didn't really have on our radar at my old bookstore was instant "order more, face it out, somebody on staff read it and write a talker for it" territory
I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

It's actually pretty shocking how, until recently, no one with a platform made the point of how ridiculous it is to think that v wealthy ppl would completely upend their lives just cause they'd be made to pay 2% of their vast wealth, which they can't use anyway (as they have more than they can spend)

These are cracking books. Introduced them to my brother-in-law who hadn't read much fantasy before and he loved them. He's since gone on to seek out other modern fantasy stuff.
I see the first 3 books in the God Fragments are all just £2.99 at the moment, which is a much better price than usual! In case like me you also enjoy drunken idiots blasting their way around ancient, monster-infested underground ruins

Cheesy Pete! Hollywood producers are total buffoons. Successfully transferring a Broadway musical to the screen doesn't mean that it is a franchise you can milk dry. The musical had a baked in audience who aren't necessarily going to watch whatever tat you knock together with the Wicked name on it.
Plans are underway on future movies in the ‘WICKED’ universe.
