I asked what I should use instead of firefox and someone said “floorp” and I legitimately thought it was a bit for like five minutes. tech has gone beyond making the torment nexus real to making poob real.

For anyone worried AI will replace all of us.

Can't wait until it inevitably comes out Nintendo uses AI in a similar way to what has been described today and the sort of discourse it is going to drive

Reading this on the day that Larian, of ALL places, decided to light all their gargantuan accumulation of good-will on fire.
This is very good advice. Spread your bets on which of your favs sucks. Because one of them definitely does.
You don't have to go down swingin for Harry Potter. You can simply become obsessed with something else

There are so many cool things to be obsessed about, you may never run out in your lifetime. Ask people for recs, I dunno

Last weird internet thing of the year.
In two weeks we'll be holding the third annual Fishmas: a competition in which people simultaneously blind-compete to catch the biggest fish in a fishing game to win a free hat.

Happy Fishing!

🚨 The UK government just published a breakdown of the responses to its consultation on AI & copyright:

- 95% of respondents want AI companies to pay for their training data (made up of 88% saying strengthen copyright law, & 7% saying leave it as is)

They are thieves trying to validate their theft and greed. Absolute bastards.
“People have every right to own property, but we must balance that with the demands of burglars to steal that property and sell it.”

Fuck off. And tell your loser tech mates to fuck off while you’re at it. Cheers. Ta.

If you are (as I am) watching The Princess Bride for REASONS today, please take a look at the quoted thread for a master's look at the masters of swords
As you may know, I have stopped using Twitter, and have decided to reproduce some of my more memorable threads here for posterity. Here’s one I hold wrote after a particularly engaging swordfighting lesson.

Buckle up, swordfighting fans, because I *have* studied my Agrippa!

this field biologist does a great job highlighting the insidiousness of AI editing

these one-click AI edit buttons are incredibly appealing to many photographers, amateurs and professionals alike, and are framed as innocuous

this is worth sharing and educating people about

Oh wow what a thread
When Rob Reiner was on his all-time epic run at the start of his career, he had an opportunity to read a script that was looking for a production partner, and he lost his mind for it. He decided Castle Rock had to have it, no matter what.

This is fucking grim. Somebody invented a white guy, an "IT professional" named Edward Crabtree, who stopped the Bondi shooting and spread it all over the internet, which was picked up by AI agents and slop aggregation sites.

The real hero is a fruit stand owner named Ahmed el Ahmed.

Just realised: how many Christmas dinners are going to be ruined by AI this year..
December 14, 2025 at 1:25 PM
I'm going to guess it's an ADHD/executive dysfunction thing that I'm endlessly irritated at seeing Christmas food in shops that I'm all ready to get and cook *now*, but having to conceptualise buying in advance (within use-by date) and readying it for an exact time/day? Hell.

As much as I've been a goofy fuck about promoting I Will Kill Your Imaginary Friend for $200, the genuine reception it's getting is incredible. Especially with people totally unfamiliar with my work. Here's an early review thread, starting with the incredible starred feature in Publisher's Weekly.

Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.
