We must keep calling out those that cave to the Trump Admin, and the latest is Northwestern.

As part of their "deal," NU will pay $75 million, stop vital research, renege on agreements with its students over the war in Gaza, and more.

Throwing your students under the bus to please Trump. Shameful.

Northwestern and Columbia being famous for journalism and bending over for Trump seems a little too on the nose these days
This is the second largest payout from a private university to the Trump admin yet, second only to Columbia’s $200m

In other countries, dictatorships tried to gain legitimacy with military parades or vast public works projects. In America, our Nuremberg Rally is just a series of law review articles.
Does anyone actually believe in unitary executive theory? Anyone at all? Because every judge, lawyer, or commentator I’ve seen advocate for unitary executive theory has a long record of asserting it when they agree with the president and dropping it otherwise.

Here's a photo of my friend and colleague, Jorge Bautista, getting shot in the face with a flashbang grenade. The ICE Agent is so afraid of Jorge (who was posing no threat) that he has wet himself. Please share this photo. Everyone needs to know what cowards ICE agents are.

Section 2 of the 15th Amendment explicitly delegates to Congress the right to decide how to enforce Black voting rights. That's what the text says. And that's the original intent of the framers.

Letitia James and James Comey have the best lawyers on earth and will almost certainly be fine. The fact that there’s a zillion stories about them and virtually none about NSPM-7 - which affects countless ordinary people - really says something about who the media writes for

Part of the success of “cancel culture” as a meme is that it makes dissimilar activity look the same. Protesting a speaker is not the same as shunning sexual predators is not the same as the federal government silencing dissent.
“What we’re seeing is an unprecedented attempt to silence disfavored speech by the government,” said Brendan Nyhan, a political scientist at Dartmouth College. “Donald Trump is trying to dictate what Americans can say.” https://to.pbs.org/46AYg7U
Trump's moves against media outlets mirror authoritarian approaches to silencing dissent
Since taking office in January, President Donald Trump has waged an aggressive campaign against the media unlike any in modern U.S. history, making moves similar to those of authoritarian leaders that...

If the Republicans appointees bend any of the Court’s norms to fast-track a decision in this case, KBJ should say so in her dissent.

the gerrymandering wars stuff is probably the first time I've really felt legitimately like it all might fall apart. like this is an actual point of no return they're pushing us towards. it's the ruling party declaring they won't allow themselves to lose elections, voters be fucked.

This is the kind of gap between rank and file voters and the party establishment that will likely cause some real havoc and disruption in the party's politics and primaries. In a different way, it's what gave rise to Trump in GOP.
It seems the pro-Israel consensus among Democrats is well and truly dead at this point. Dem primary voters prefer candidates who refuse to travel to Israel (by net +45%) and back a bill to end military aid to Israel (by net +61%). www.filesforprogress.org/datasets/202...

If the Supreme Court thinks universal injunctions are unconstitutional, to wait until *now* to say that, in this of all cases, with this of all presidents, is a devastating indictment of both its impartiality and its prudence.

A reason im not moved by the “don’t give the trump administration the pretext they’re looking for” is that we would not dare say that about any anti-authoritarian protest movement in literally any other country
