Stanford played a role in the writing of the senior English curriculum, reviewing documents and providing feedback to Ministry officials on at least 10 February, 14 March and 27 March.
Stanford Admits Involvement in the Development of the Senior English Curriculum
While it is usual for a Minister to be aware of the different iterations of a curriculum, it is unusual for a Minister to have input.  And yet, this is exactly what has happened with the Engli…

It is absolutely critical to democracy that communities directly own their water infrastructure but also unimportant that those same communities get to decide how they look after our environment?

If cognitive dissonance could be harnessed for fuel then we could all live happily ever after

Be still my beating Canadian heart.

Twin 2, who was born and raised in Aotearoa and never eaten a butter tart, is following a Canadian Living recipe to make us butter tarts. 🥹

As I think should be obvious, those landlord tax cuts aren’t going to pay for themselves. If it takes the drowning deaths of a few hundred passengers in a Cook Strait storm to keep interest rate deductibility for slumlords, that’s a price this government is willing to pay 🤷🏻

This is a great little video about using different kids of cargo bikes for *all sorts* of things.

If you’re keen to try a cargo bike you can of course visit a local bike shop, or if you’re in Ōtautahi Christchurch you could come along to the Cargo Bike Picnic on Dec 7! See my feed for details. 🚲

An interesting note for fans of urbanism: in the second photo, even though cars are allowed along this stretch (mainly couriers and hospitality deliveries), all the walking and wheeling modes functionally take priority (along with the tram).
You can see car drivers do a double take at the
It is a warm spring day and the central city was very busy. Loads of people walking, biking, scooting along the Ōtākaro (Avon River) and the City to Sea Cycleway.

Woop woop #coffeeneuring Ride 7 of 7!
18km

Today we wanted to ride part of the cycleway network we’ve never ridden before, so we weaved across the city on quiet streets, separated cycleways, shared paths and a river trail, leading to Riverlution Cafe in the red zone (cleared post-earthquakes).

I ate it too quickly to take a photo (and my hands were full of other food delights) but the heirloom tomato and cream cheese bagel from the bagel-maker at Christchurch South Farmer’s Market was OUTSTANDING. Tasted like summer. Chef’s kiss. 🥯

Also, tired of freezer jenga? Freeze anything liquidish flat on a baking sheet, then you can file it. Pasta sauce, soups, chili, etc. This is ~10L of pasta sauce.

Massive shoutout out to whoever handles the Royal Canadian Air Force’s social media account. They responded to every single comment on their already very solid Trans Day of Remembrance post and they responded like this…

That every comment in this article is supportive of trans kids right to access puberty blockers tells you everything you need to know. In the medical community, this isn’t even a debate. No one thinks a ban is right.

I think this photo of this glorious cheese fondue has finally tipped me over the edge, from annually thinking about buying a fondue set to actually getting one.
Perhaps I’ll ask for an op shop fondue set for Christmas!
Big snowy day today, which was perfect for the cheese fondue dinner I had planned.

Feedback-for-the-win short story:

If you ride your bike somewhere (shops, doctor’s office, wherever) & the bike parking is crap, insufficient or nonexistent, make a point of nicely mentioning it.

That way they know there’s a need & it might be something they’ve been considering improving.

I have just been through our house files and I can lay my hand on the user manual and installation guide for every single appliance in this entire house, EXCEPT for the unit that has been leaking for some time (as I’ve just discovered) and causing electrical shorts. 😫

OMG this is SUCH a great gift idea. And the finish on Kelsey’s work will be top notch.
Hey there Aotearoa Bluesky fam.
I can replace a collar on your fave, worn out shirt. Usually this is friends & family only but it's *such* a good "person who has everything" Christmas gift and I can fit 2-3 in before then if you mail em in. I've got navy, black & white linen.
