Exactly. A disgrace.
This is Hamilton’s loss. You’re a strong, smart advocate and impressive in so many ways. Whatever you do next, I’m certain it’ll be equally impactful, for the good of others, and inspiring.

You’re a star, Louise. I hope you stay in New Zealand but whenever you go next I’ll be cheering you on.
Have a great week away!!
Behind The Seams by Esme Young.

Especially great if you have watched The Great British Sewing Bee, but still a great read if you haven’t! This incredible woman has 👏🏻 lived 👏🏻 a 👏🏻 life!
💯

I think a lot of it is down to car-brain. People are so conditioned to a car-first existence that they see anything else as less important, or niche, and therefore just something that impedes car users. 🤯
Arohanui to you both, Cath.
Look at her go on her cool trike!! 🙌🏼
#coffeeneuring Ride #1 completed today, 6km on this lovely and warm spring day.
💯

If only they would just be upfront about it, instead of their bullshit lines about “making sense”, “back to basics”, “less confusing”. JUST SAY YOU DON’T WANNA PAY FOR IT.
Also, yikes, Lincoln Rd. 😬
MUCH MORE comprehensive!!

Bish wouldn’t know (or follow) international best practice if it bit him on the ass.
“Where they don’t make sense.”

FFS, this f’ing guy.
Transport Minister Chris Bishop is keen to see more children learning to ride bikes, but on halving cycleway spending says, “it’s fair to say that some people are sick and tired of cycle lanes in areas where they don't make sense”.

I was at my old high school today, for the first time in over twenty years, to talk to the teachers about how their curriculum can better support students. AI came up, and so many teachers were saying "Well it's a tool, they have to know how to use it, it's the future so we have to accept it!"
That’s really disappointing to hear. I wonder if some backing support from @cyclewgtn.bsky.social might help?
Don’t like this. ☹️
There you go!! E-bikes for the win.
In the UK several councils have installed secure bike hangars for local residents who don’t have the space to park bikes at home. This stuff can be done, it just takes political will.

The council says each hangar is about the size of a car parking space and can hold six bikes.

These are very real barriers. Even in places w/ sections of safe infrastructure, if the gaps don’t link up the place where you are to the places you need to go, that can be completely prohibitive. Sigh.
It’s seen as a niche interest rather than a fundamental transport option in too many places.
Do the trolleys ever bang into or scratch your bike when you lock up against the corrals?
Both of these that you’ve pictured have the perfect width space on the outside for your bike!
I’m guessing there are not sturdy bike racks at these shops.
This.

I suspect many people who cry that e-bikes are elitist, like those who cry about councils putting in wide, separated cycleways, have never considered how e-bikes (of various forms) can be positively life changing mobility aids for many people with disabilities and health challenges.
Until cities build ubiquitous safe ebike infrastructure, I will need to ride my ebike on sidewalks sometimes.
I physically can't walk across a parking lot on some days, but I can ride my ebike.
Ebike bans are ableist
That you are awesome and inspiring and I can’t wait to see what you do next!

Oh, about Bluesky? 😆
