I dunno if this counts but Neon Genesis Evangelion being such a ramshackle game of improv and retcons and remasterings and production nukes all coming together as a thematic and narrative steel drum where every story beat feels planned from word go is still so creatively insane to me.

The way Chris pincher has been basically been erased from boris downfall is really instructive in Westminster culture and how these people get away with it
I see we're back to "Johnson resigned because of a party" and not because he employed a known sex pest, lied about what he knew, and more than half his cabinet resigned as a result.

Things I really wish had commentaries that came out in the post-commentary era:

1) Bardo (laudatory)
2) Madame Webb (derogatory)
3) The Whittaker era of Doctor Who (derogatory)
4) The RTD2 era of Doctor Who (bit of column a, bit of column b)
I would kill for audio commentaries of the Thirteenth Doctor era from Whittaker et al

I stand with County Executive Calvin Ball as he signs emergency legislation today prohibiting privately owned buildings from being used as ICE detention centers.

Howard County chose dignity, accountability, and its people. Tune into our event now:

The EU should probably brutalize an American tech company, and they should actually go after one of the ones that’s relatively less culpable as an example to scare the bandwagoners. Possession is 9/10 of the law, I’m sure Ireland can fuck up some company that uses them as a tax haven.

If you work for ice please understand that your kids will laugh at a character based on you dying in an action movie before the end of the decade. They’ll be in movies for really little kids. Like Phineas and Ferb shit. There will be an action figure of you with a detachable head

I finally managed to pick a quote from Unnatural History to write in circular gallifreyan, I love this book so much is was so hard to choose one, but I managed to narrow it down to a bit from one of my favorite scenes

I have a sneaking love for Peter Hitchens - in a world where every rightwinger’s opinions are identical and you can predict them with five lines of JavaScript, he’s a true original who will just come out and say something absolutely insane

This latest shitshow is another reminder why Starmer needs to go - not in May but now. He is not willing or capable of playing the role of PM. He is vindicating the far-right and demoralising the left. He should be removed for being bad for the country not merely losing Labour elections

The paragraph about TV Tropes is spot on. I can't bear that approach to criticism where the main aim seems to be asserting superiority to the work. People who'll identify an influence and be like "Ah, rumbled!" episodes.ghost.io/art-criticis...
You are not smarter than the art you critique
Here's my best advice for young critics: Don't presume you know better.

The Outer Worlds 2 has a radio station where all the music sounds exactly like the stuff from Fallout, but it's all written *FOR THE GAME*. They hired real swing and jazz bands to help create the songs, and the lyrics are all tongue-in-cheek product jingles. It's my favourite thing about the game.

Outdated space-age exhibit of junkyard scrap turned into an Ed Wood stageshow and shadow play. The Daleks are so eerie, it's spellbinding. Earth Under the Martians as atomic horror Blitz, echoing with squeaky screeches and chirps.

I would write the heck out of the Doctor's first encounter with Bastet -- the ferocious lioness version, rather than the cuddly kitty.
In The Story & the Engine, the Doctor refutes the Barber's claim to be Anansi, Dionysus, Sága, Bastet and Loki with personal memories of the first four. He leaves out Loki: a hybrid trickster, liar and shapeshifter, normally male but sometimes female, who lives among gods but isn't one of them. Hmm.

#Dispatch devs have no interest in using AI for game development 🎮

"AI feels like a production solution, not a creative one. Maybe it's a creative one if you aren't creative"

"Whatever we're building, it has to connect. It's got to be made by people. It's got to connect to people"
