In Printz v. United States, #SCOTUS held that the Constitution bars the federal government from forcing or otherwise compelling local or state governments to enforce federal law.

The liberal squish who wrote the majority opinion in that case? Justice Antonin Scalia:

This is the most astonishing graph of what the Trump regime has done to US science. They have destroyed the federal science workforce across the board. The negative impacts on Americans will be felt for generations, and the US might never be the same again.

When democracies replace authoritarian regimes, they typically disband the secret police.

Portugal (1974): PIDE disbanded within days.

Greece (1974): ESA disbanded. Leaders imprisoned.

East Germany (1990): Stasi dissolved.

Chile (1990): CNI dissolved.

Brazil (1990): SNI dissolved.

The destruction doesn't make for a photo-op like tearing down the East Wing of the White House or bulldozing the Rose Garden, but it's every bit as bad. Generations of American children learned to spell and count, learned the Preamble to the Constitution, from watching shows produced by the CPB.

Amtrak's restored service between New Orleans and Mobile has far exceeded initial ridership projections since launch in August, just like what happened when the Borealis service was established between Chicago and St. Paul last year.

Amtrak is currently expecting to double the first-year estimates.

The route’s early success has raised hope for some advocates of regional train travel. See how many people have taken the train since its launch in August.
