This is excellent. But when will we be able to get it? The filter I mean. Someone will try to sell you a washing-machine fish, don't fall for it.
Fish-inspired filter removes 99% of microplastics from washing machine wastewater
Wastewater from washing machines is considered a major source of microplastics—tiny plastic particles that are suspected of harming human and animal health. Researchers at the University of Bonn have ...

just learned the size of modern bugs is due less to decreased atmospheric oxygen and more selection pressure favoring small ones and dangers around molting making it unfavorable for Big Beetle to be common.

unbelievable that we as a society continue to just pretend that agent 47 could reasonably disguise himself as someone other than like…mildly famous canadian streamer northernlion.

insane local news just dropped. i've lived in a part of KC for ~decade and it's been an inside joke with friends and service workers that the local biz/party district is ran by a cartel of biz owners who bully out new ventures and replace them with generic dive bars for white suburbanites.

Well UH

Gremlins 2 is cinema's highest achievement.
First marvel this, first Disney that. Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990) had a canonically trans character and it wasn’t even a main plot point, in this essay I will…

there's an entire superorder (very big category) of crustaceans called Syncarids, and like 99% of them are tiny white eyeless sub-millimeter things living in cavewater, except in Tasmania, where they just casually live on the surface world like regular shrimp. infuriating

It really is precisely the inverse of how much work you actually are doing
The numbers in here are hilarious.

Do you use AI on the job?
Execs: 87%
Managers: 57%
Workers: 27%

Planned investment by 2030: $5T
"Necessary" annual revenue to justify that spend: $650B
Current annual revenue: $50B
Three years into the generative-AI wave, demand for the technology seems surprisingly flimsy
