No. Commonsense reform is to burn ICE to the waterline and scatter the rubble so that all of us who value a constitutional republic with a Bill of Rights can prevent such a monstrosity from ever being constructed again.
And nothing above is hyperbole.

God, but you are not a leader for this time.
Democrats want commonsense reform for ICE:

End the roving patrols and racial profiling.

Take accountability and abide by the same rules as local police.

Masks need to come off, body cameras need to stay on—no secret police in the United States of America.

If you'd told me, a decade ago, that the rising concept of the 'influencer' would one day serve as a transmission belt for the elevation of subliterate clowns seeking to provoke pogroms in exchange for promotional deals with online betting companies, I'd probably have said, "That tracks."
As an influencer, Nick Shirley had struggled to expand his reach. But after a missionary trip pushed him to try a new approach, he caused a sensation with a video claiming to expose fraud at Somali-run day care centers in Minnesota. nyti.ms/45GzJi4

A tough one to sit with--but we must--is that some people's ability to make good art in part derived from, or was protected by, the fact that they were enabling or doing terrible things. See also: We Need to Talk about Cosby doc. Even more troubling on this score: Read deep reporting on Alice Munro
"actually his stuff was very Derivative and not Original" like, you don't have to do this. it is good for us all to sit with the cognitive dissonance that a very bad person can make very good art. it is good for us to work through the moral ramifications of that.

If they redeem themselves, they wouldn’t care if they got their status back and they might not even want it; that’s how redemption works; that’s what redemption is. What they want is exoneration for free, with a side order of vindication.
In the event that say Gaiman or Rowling or Orson Scott Card or [insert name] magically redeemed themselves, we still wouldn't owe them our time, money or attention nor would they deserve the status they once had. There have always been other people to read.

All bodycams are going to do is facilitate a surge in prosecutions for “assaulting agents” and improve data collection about protesters so good work everyone who pushed for that big reform.

It used to be exciting that YouTube let people cuss in their videos the way you'd never be allowed to on TV. Now half of YouTubers are scared to say "die." Every adult topic needs baby words like "grapist" and "sewer slide."

By the time I pledged, like an hour after it went up, it was at about $420k with over 3k backers. As of this post, it's at $480k with over 3500 backers. The goal was $20k. I think there's a demand.

The great part about "the conservative version of a thing they've decided is too liberal" stuff is that not even conservatives want to watch it. They want it to exist because they think it Owns and Triggers the right people, but you could fit everyone who will actually *watch* this in a phone booth.

Aronofsky, like anyone in a creative field who uses generative AI, should be regarded as a class traitor and shunned. If you don't believe in the fundamental value of human artistic expression, you are undeserving of the community of your peers. ESPECIALLY in as collaborative an art form as film.

If you watch the reaction of everyone else in the room, it seems very unlikely that this “sound effect” has been added for comedic purposes.

The fact that everyone sprints away like there’s a Sarin leak… I’ve seen enough, our president shit himself in the oval office on live TV.

People say we can't compare this to the Third Reich because of the atrocities but we only found out about the atrocities after the fact when it was all said and done and we're not done with this yet so I am sure the worst stomach churning shit has yet to be revealed.
ICYMI: The US is currently holding three times as many people in immigrant detention as were detained in the Nazi concentration camp system in spring 1939 — six years into the Third Reich, and just before the start of World War II.

Bullies hate a fight, which is why they must be given one.
ICE/CBP want to terrify people into submission and compliance so that they can operate with impunity, unimpeded, in semi-secrecy. It is not working. In every urban center these masked goons descend upon, the local community is rallying in solidarity.
