Principle? PRINCIPLE?? I didn't realize we were calling Constitutional amendments - the highest law of the land, yeah? - principles. If they want to change the Constitution, do it the prescribed way, dammit.

Yeah, I know, I'm pissing into the wind here, but argh.

Theater of the absurd, as usual. Given this sort of rationalization, I'd be surprised if Bondi weren't a Pastafarian. (doctorspaghetti.org/pastafarians...)

If I'd been the TA, I might have met with the student and given her some feedback on how to do what she was trying to do in a way that fulfills the assignment, then ask for a rewrite not changing the opinion but the approach. I might have deducted points for having to redo it; if student 🧵

There is always room at my table for immigrants.

Especially if they bring food or recipes from their culture to share. 😀

There is, however, never room at my table for MAGAts. No matter what they think they bring.
Calling people “invaders” on a holiday centered on sharing food with strangers is exactly the kind of upside-down morality MAGA is famous for.

Most of the economic and market information/jargon went over my head, but once it got into the mechanics of poverty ... yeah, this is well worth the read.
This is very interesting (and yeah, I also had an initial “oh come on, that’s nuts” reaction to the first part of this article, but as I read on, I realized he was making some pretty compelling points)
This is an insightful but deeply upsetting article about why everyone in the US feels poor, and why the current political situation emerges as a direct result.

Belated #caturday - our youngest cat is obsessed with shoes, so the incredibly rare occurrence of my barn boots' presence upstairs is a complete gift, as far as she's concerned. (They started upright and neat, btw)

When I was 15ish, a friend and I were Very Cool and walking around the CA town she lived in, shopping and Being Cool. We went a Round Table Pizza for lunch, and as we sat waiting, a very drunk adult guy sloshed into the seat across from us. "Heyyyyy ... how ya doing?" We were both speechless. 🧵

SBUX is convenient and consistent, and the stores near me aren't unionizing, but ... I will stand with the union anyway. ✊️

My own coffee is better, anyway, and I can get local coffee if I want a latte.
The union is asking that you not patronize any Starbucks, even ones that aren't unionized, for the duration! Time to find your new favoriteocal coffee shop. To donate to their strike fund: sbworkersunited.org

Exactly. Any relief and pride I had last week has been subsumed by disgust, anger, and frustration. Dems were just starting to really get momentum on the reasons for the shutdown - important valid ones. And lily-livered Schumer got scared. Fuck that guy and everyone who went along with him.
Some modicum of relief tonight watching the polls. And a grain of pride, too.

Itsy bitsy bits of each, because things are still terrible at the top and affecting the people least able to soak a single blow, much less the barrage we've had.

Still: VA, PA, NYC, GA? Wins.

Mamdani is going to impose shillelagh law. Everyone must carry a stout stick and start down the rocky road to Dublin.
Mamdani is going to impose shangri-la law. Everyone will be blindfolded and forced to play Marco Polo
Mamdani gonna implement Shaaloani law. All disputes settled via shootout duels using non-lethal rounds with all the authenticity of a spaghetti western directed by Japanese anime enthusiasts.

WWJD about SNAP

John 6:10-12
Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.
When they had all had enough to eat, He said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.”

This is the tenth anniversary of A Very Good Decision Indeed. We accidentally got married on the eighth anniversary of our getting together, too, so doubly auspicious. ❤️

Nothing of note to most, but at least a happy thought. 😊

If I were running the DNC, there would be Democratic Party sponsored food relief banks across the country right now that specifically welcomed anyone regardless of party affiliation.

Along with the food, there could be voter registration and links to runforsomething.net

I've been making monthly donations to my local food bank since earlier this year - part of my What Can I Do Locally plan - and I'm going to increase that donation as much as I can starting this month.
