10 years ago Mark Carney warned about the "existential threat" posed by climate catastrophe and the need to move from fossil fuel burning.
Now he is using Stephen Harper's lines about becoming an "energy super power."
This is a powerful analysis on the MOU.

The Pipeline MOU is a Tragic Failure of Vision
At best, Mark Carney capitulated to Danielle Smith's backward view of the future. At worst, the Prime Minister shares that view

Aaaand... this could easily have been foreseen.

This is what I mean by bad strategy from Carney (see thread). Very messy.

Never any taxpayer money for this.
I can tell you didn't bother to read the MOU, because the agreement requires Alberta to increase public funding for its CCUS incentive program. That's AB taxpayer money being handed directly to oilsands companies.

On my listening list for this week. I read @tanyatalaga.bsky.social's Seven Fallen Feathers a few years ago, and it impacted my outlook and advocacy. Admittedly, it was a book I had to put down a few times, so I could process and reflect on the legacy of colonialism in this country.
