While in the short term there is a big loss, in the long term Slafkovsky is coming of age.

Also, the Wilde Cards is an assessment on how the rebuild is full steam ahead.

Usually, I’m quite gentle, but the Canadiens are doing something that winning teams simply do not do. No better example than last night.

Also, big praise for a player levelling up every game, and a prospect on fire.

Nice 20 minute podcast with two of my favourite people in the business.

Simon and Joey. Joey not on BlueSky yet but Simon has joined us.

He talks Habs, NFL, likes soccer a lot too. Super smart dude. Give him a follow.

Habs prospect Bryce Pickford wasn’t invited to Team Canada’s World Juniors training camp 🇨🇦

In the WHL this season, he currently has:

• 20 goals (1st among defensemen, 2nd among all players)

• 36 points (1st among defensemen)

• He scored a hat trick last game

You got it, Gilles. Exactly that. They’ll learn it. The great thing is it’s the part that one can teach.

The talent is the difficult part. They got that.

The discipline, patience, and understanding is the easy part.

*what a smart hockey community here at BlueSky.
Another excellent piece as usual Brian. Not allowing odd man rushes in tight games will only come with experience. The youngest team in the league will eventually learn how to do that.

If Houston makes the playoffs, you do not want to meet them.
December 8, 2025 at 4:23 AM
They had 53 shots.
How about those /AnaheimDucks!? 🦆
December 8, 2025 at 3:42 AM
Well, for a rare time, I did not go gentle into that good night. Wilde Goats speaks of a problem that good teams with a lot less talent do not do.

That will be published tomorrow morning. Hope you'll read.

Oh well, at least you get to see why I have been talking up Brayden Schenn as a second line centre. Ha.

I didn't have getting goalied by the worst goalie in the NHL this season on my scorecard tonight.

But here we are.

I can't believe I get to finally cover so many exciting players.

Like I mean, not just good players, but exciting players.

Hutson. Caufield. Demidov. Suzuki. Slafkovsky. Even Newhook is an exciting player to watch fly.

What a joy after watching even the good teams basically be Price and a Prayer.

I am told that the little known prospect in the COTW got a hat trick last night.

He is 🔥

He simply does not get enough credit for his ability to win pucks against guys he’s giving up 40 pounds. He’s a marvel.

Great to see a story on his D work.
December 7, 2025 at 1:21 PM
There's the top corner shot from Caufield that he does better than anyone.

That's the bread and butter.
December 7, 2025 at 2:59 AM
This Hildeby is very good. These are quality shots to the top corner.

This is their 3rd goalie?
December 7, 2025 at 2:51 AM
Nick struggling to win that opening draw in OT. We talk about draws so much, but I wonder if there is one more important than the one that starts 3 on 3.
December 7, 2025 at 2:48 AM
This is the journey of a young team. The one not allowable thing is to give up a shorthanded goal.

Momentum has turned completely. The Leafs were ripe to be beaten, but now.... well, my spidey senses are alert to how this usually goes..
December 7, 2025 at 2:35 AM
Wow, that never gets called. I mean, I'm not saying it shouldn't. It just doesn't get called.
December 7, 2025 at 1:39 AM
Texier looks pretty good on that second line. He's a good puck winner and plays well along the boards.
December 7, 2025 at 1:30 AM
Here's something that you probably already know. That Demidov can pass.

That pass had two chances ha - Slafkovsky and Caufield were in the path.

Caufield gets it. It's his 15th.
December 7, 2025 at 1:28 AM
.873 as a team save percentage. 28th in the league.

That's a goal per game.

How many more results could they have on the board with the opposition one goal less per game.
