D’Artagnan beat Rowan to my lap today. Usually Rowan is my lap cat and D’Artagnan is my wife’s. In this photo I’m reclining on the couch with just D’Artagnan’s hind quarters visible. Rowan has come over and sat down on the floor, at the end of the couch recliners raised foot rest. As she sat down she opened her mouth in a big yawn, which I caught with the shot. It looks like she’s complaining about D’Artagnan being on my lap instead of her. In the background is a stuffed Grinch That Stole Christmas doll. The cats like to rub up against it as they wander past.

Close to thirty of us gathered in front of our UCP MLAs office today in the -19C(-2F) temps to show our displeasure with Danielle Smith's policies. There were about sixteen when I took this photo. More arrived later.

Photo of protesters holding signs and pride flags. it was minus nineteen degrees Celsius, which is minus two degrees Fahrenheit. People were bundled up in parkas and winter clothing. The first sign with a red background and white lettering reads "We Are Not withStanding with the UCP! Recall Them" the "with" in withStanding is crossed out. This is reference to the UCP using the Notwithstanding clause in our constitution ordering Teachers back to work and forcing them into a contract that they didn't accept. It also stops the Teachers Union from challenging the order in a court of law. However we have recall legislation in Alberta, so petition applications to have the MLAs, that voted for the Notwithstanding clause, be recalled. With enough signatures the MLAs lose their seat in the Legislature and an election would need to be held in their ridings. They also used the clause to enact bills that are anti LGBTQIA+.

In this age of social media, before we post or comment, it could be much more positive if we remember the acronym for THINK. Is it true,helpful, inspiring, necessary, or kind. It will go a long way to reducing the effects of doom scrolling and might even lower stress levels. I'm just saying.

So Jason Nixon says “We are making Alberta a leader in disability supports, inclusion and employment.” As a disabled person on AISH this is an insane statement. These proposed changes will result in more disabled people dying before their time. These changes are cruel and need to be stopped!

If DS REALLY wanted to improve their lives she would have consulted them and asked what would help. She would have ensured there were jobs and employers willing to retrofit businesses for accessibility and brought in job sharing for those who can’t physically work 8 hr days. Horse before cart.

Other parts of the country had their first snowfall. Now it's our turn. First significant snowfall happening today. First picture was at 9:44 this morning, the second was at 12:38 p.m. Won't be doing any door knocking today, other than knocking the snow shovel to dislodge damp snow. ☃️❄️🪏

Our lawn is still green from the mild weather we've had till now, but a dusting of snow is visible on the grass and front flower bed. It's still mild enough snow has melted off the brick walkway leading to our front door, the street nd front sidewalk. The approaching snow looks like fog in the distance. Photo taken at 12:38 p.m. taken from the front window. The snow is now about two centimetres, or one inch deep and building up rapidly on the street sidewalks and car. We expect between five and twenty centimetres, or two to eight inches of snow depending where in the area you live, over the next twenty-four hours. Could be more this close to the Cypress Hills.
