Tears in my eyes laughing at 'Don't ruin our coronation-like No Kings event 4 years from now' and then there being some idiotic incident with Chuck Schumer acting as a corker, and chasing off teenagers distributing actual anti monarchist literature, and that being the entirety of the funny business.
calling my shot way in advance: election certification day, 2029, is going to see the largest no kings protest yet, with more than a million people in the streets of dc alone

just a message: no fucking funny business.

"If they stole the vote, then the recourse is to make the vote unstealable through a new floor in participation" and like, is the latest in Tennessee going to be an exercise of 'so you got the proof, but do you even have a hammer to swing about it?' if you're thinking vote hacking?

Welly well well, if it isn't the fundamental fault of Liberal Capitalists and their fucking racket on display once again.
I think a lot of "learn to code" people thought high salaries for programmers were a permanent feature of the world rather than the result of unusual circumstances around supply and demand in the labor market. Over last 20 years, CS went from a niche college major to the most popular major in the US
New CS grads are making less than I made as an accounting graduate straight out of college a decade ago, and I don’t mean inflation adjusted, I mean nominally.

Thing. Reproduction of thing. Distributable image of reproduction of thing. Rumor of distributable image of reproduction of thing.

You satisfied still on the 4th leg or do I need to go a fifth to illustrate where we're at in relation to things?

Once again I am on my shit about using timeshare sales techniques because not only do they work, they piss people off because they work despite the pretense and obviousness.

It is actually getting a bit painful that Ukranians can not believe what a bunch of docile and diplomatic knobs everyone else in the world is, on purpose, despite the rhetorical bluster and eminent threats to the rest of Europe.

Like, they're right, but also, that is on purpose!

not picking on anyone in particular, but there are not many people more “faith-based” in the US than liberal legal observers and writers that treat dissenting opinions like some time capsule of dignity and truth sent forward to a future Court that heeds the Loser’s Wisdom.

Pray to God this take isnt paired with unflappable support for policing because that is the racket of authoritarian elite system.

Following the law is for the plebes who die if they dont, or are the 'wrong kind' anyway.

And it is more complex than just that in the art of criming as a plebe.
Someone should really explain to the people in charge that if they don’t enforce any sort of consequences for blatant lawless behavior by elites, then eventually normal people will take the message that there is no point in following the laws themselves

The bitter irony of all of you wanting political accountability is youll never get it to the 'consequential ward' degree you imagine will tamp down on it, and is delegated to the system that wanted the net present state of affairs to be like this

It's cause the sole conduit of their political praxis is a marketing organization that calls itself a political party, and who are they to have theoretical Liberalism in 2025 outside of electoral marketing as the endpoint of their politics?

It is that simple in explaining the stuckness of it all.
No matter where it begins, every political conversation or analysis among libs ends up at language, word choice, "framing." Just an endless, bottomless, almost pre-conscious faith that they can persuade their opponents to cede power.

It is kinda funny how hyper Liberals will be like 'and that's why nobody associates with Leftists, they're lunatics' and meanwhile, they're still litigating individual moralities of people who criticize the Democratic Party for having less juice than a Sunny D and people aren't associating with them

The disbelief with which future historians will point to this moment, the gleeful step- by-step decision tracing of this collapsing empires final days, the arrogance of this violence-first backwards dictatorship, the absurdity of tech allocating a full half-century of profits to a tranpsarent ponzi

Future history grad student challenging the prof in class:
Wait, so you are saying one side was more committed to norms of discourse than ideas? That they couldn’t even defend their ideas?

*Prof*: Yes, the ones most ‘publically’ committed to the rule of law were the least willing to defend it.

Future historians will analyze the Federalist Society and search for the ideological opponent that was defending the Constitution and democracy, and find….not a lot. And they’ll wonder why, and the answer will truly be “a lot of law people don’t like *that* kind of conflict”.

I do think it's kind of funny to get blocked by an Eastern European who doesn't like me telling them that the way to get a good US Intervention in Ukraine is to simply write US Senators more.

You won't believe that the writer for Liberal Currents has delegated the entirety of anti war sentiment to one Chuck Schumer and that's the end of the conversation.
going to war with venezuela would be stupid and evil and also i think allying with russian stooges and weird cults is not a good way to make that point

The act of synthesizing is everything, the allocation of your consciousness to replicating and making decisions on the important stuff to retain in the process is the fucking entire game sometimes.
I wonder how big the gap between "record a lecture, have the AI transcribe and summarize it and then read the summary" (something that current LLMs are, in my experience, actually really good at) is compared to taking notes on a piece of paper is
“When participants used ChatGPT to draft essays, brain scans revealed a 47% drop in neural connectivity across regions associated with memory, language, & critical reasoning.

Their brains worked less, but they felt just as engaged—a kind of metacognitive mirage.”🧪

Why is always 'a hill to die on' and never 'a hill to snipe enemies from and then abandon when it gets too hot, then take up again to whittle them down and fuck up morale that they can't stop the small slow bleed'
December 4, 2025 at 11:06 PM
I wish the OP didn't lock this down (especially cause they're poking this from some Liberal standpoint) because this is exactly the fucking conundrum with Leftist Organizing and trying to link up with any entity that is 'for real' (and I don't mean authentic or pure, but somewhat cogent to effect)
I will say that as a resident of DC through September of this year, I was desperately looking for more respectable groups to organize protests.

But time and again, the only people taking initiative in the capital were groups like the Revolutionary Communists. But, time and again, people showed up!

25+ years of this being the pulse and all the consumer philosophers can come up with for all the internal agreement is 'this is an inarguably bad situation'.

The broader picture is consumer philosopher's insights die on the vine because lo, the consumer gets value from complaint while consuming.
It's not about if Horses is good or if you like it, it's about the world we're in where a few companies have control over who gets to make money and which artists get to continue working.

Stores can stock whatever they want, but if you don't understand the broader picture you shouldn't speak.

You just can't escape how much the bag of fascism revolves around aesthetic placements of psyche, and it being nonsensical with any thought given to it, exampled here where nobody wants to return to these aesthetics or the timeplace where these were a thing unless they're bent and wrong.
Sean Duffy on slashing fuel economy standards: "This rule will actually allow you to bring back the 1970s station wagon. Maybe a little wood paneling on the side. We can bring back choice to consumers."
December 4, 2025 at 7:01 PM
See, the thing is, the indulgence of being catered to, even in intangible ways of psyche, are too captivating to turn down unless you've been ruined at least once in your life by chasing something that feels good and isn't good for you, and break yourself to escape it.
maybe having the entire apparatus bend over the past thirty years to cater to each person's interests with increasing granularity was not great for people's mental health and ai is just the natural end point of that, i dunno
