Good. "But DHS isn't just ICE, it's also..." nope, wrong. DHS no longer serves any useful functions, the whole thing has been reassigned to repression. FEMA isn't even paying out to states. All DHS does is shooting, teargassing, facial recognition, and administrative warrants. Shut it down.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune said Thursday that demands made by Democrats for new restrictions on federal immigration officers are “unrealistic” and warned that the Department of Homeland Security will shut down next week if they do not work with Republicans and the White House.

Do... do some people not understand that these newly funded paramilitary troops will be the exact people who'll "monitor" the "nationalized" elections and will abduct (at least for day or two in order to "check their status [sic!]") any person too Black or brown to be near a ballot box? OK then.

Cops were never any good at their jobs before but with ring cameras they’re catastrophically lazy. They expect you to be surveilling yourself 24/7. And the bonus is they also get to surveil you, too.

How many moments of ethnic cleansing and genocide do we need to point to before we internalize the very plain fact that these death factories have been built in our own front yard?

How many atrocities will we allow before we storm the gates ourselves? Our neighbors are dying

in honor of David Brooks I will also not be reading his final column for the NYT
I'm not saying that David Brooks has some serious Epstein ties, I'm merely pointing that he coincidentally just published his final column after 22 years at the New York Times. www.nytimes.com/2026/01/30/o...

ICE are running around in the streets using facial recognition on random people and telling anyone filming them they're a domestic terrorist and Democrats solution is to equip every ICE agent with their very own body-worn surveillance camera

@murray.senate.gov, I see you there. You can do more than this. Rules will not stop them. Body cameras will not stop them. None of the is acceptable.
SCHUMER says Democrats are “united” behind three DHS reforms

1/ End roving patrols; tighten the rules on warrants and require ICE to coordinate with local authorities.

2/ Enforce accountability; a uniform code of conduct.

3/ Require masks off, body cameras on, agents carry ID.

Something I've been trying to impart on people is that the ICE occupation in Minnesota is both an ethnic cleansing and an ideological terror campaign. It's clear that the second part has utterly failed; the community is not terrified. But ICE is now desperately trying to salvage the first part.

Even when they show signs of weakness or forced regret, we must not give an inch. Authoritarian governments still respond to public opinion, which is why sustained pressure matters. We have to keep making clear that these thuggish actions are unconscionable and will not be tolerated. Don’t let up.
