It really hit me reading this. Traditional films tried to trim and compress to fit everything they wanted to do into around 90 minutes. If you're repeating everything 4 times, it now takes up to 6 hours to convey the same amount of information.
And that's how long a typical season of TV is now.

This is also the same conspiracy theory that Central Valley shitheads have been pushing for decades. There have been signs along the 5 freeway saying "Tell Governor [name of current governor] to open the tap!" since at least Jerry Brown.
For anyone who doesn't live in California, I can assure you that this fantasy is not only bullshit, but quite literally, a geographic impossibility.

You cannot overstate how startling it is to see a politician just say the thing with clarity and poise. No fearful hemming. No overwrought qualifying down til it’s meaningless. No lingering sense that there is a loyalty to a donor class or an ideology of stasis that they’d never admit to.
