I am the co-host - with my friend and comrade @danielharper.bsky.social - of a podcast called (rather eccentrically) 'I Don't Speak German'. It's about the far-right... which, sadly, is a much less niche category than when we started in 2019. idontspeakgerman.libsyn.com
I Don't Speak German
Daniel Harper is a researcher who goes where few others can bear to go: he listens to what the reactionaries - from the IDW to the modern day Nazis - say to each other in *their* safe spaces! In this...

Do you think people with actual skin in the game run towards those who have hatred of us? We don't run to the far right bigots to want us dead seeking to persuade them through discourse. We avoid them because they want us dead. Nice for you if you enjoy zero-stakes debate with them.

Trump's post about the Reiners is breathtakingly depraved even by his standards. Nobody who isn't profoundly wicked and degenerate has thoughts like that. Nobody with sane judgement posts them publicly.

Stephen Miller is employing state terror in service of the open goal of shifting the ethnic mix of the country. In numerous ways he's doing this at the expense of public safety.

We spent weeks reporting on Miller's real aims. Here's the result. We hope you'll read:

Inside Stephen Miller’s Dark Plot to Build a MAGA Terror State
He is descended from Russian Jews—you know, the kind of people who were once denounced as alien and unassimilable. Today, his project is to unleash government persecution of those he deems alien and u...

Thread
Because the issue of population change is so widely misunderstood, here's a short thread which seeks to lay it out simply.
It explains why there is almost nothing anyone can do to change the global population trajectory, both as numbers rise, then as they fall.

My favourite example of this sort of thing is in The Omen. In that film, the American ambassador to the UK suddenly just fucks off to Israel with a British photojournalist and then comes back with six ancient sacrificial daggers in his luggage and its fine.
In the original "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" short story by Richard Matheson, the guy gets rid of the gremlin by shooting it off the wing of the plane with the gun he had packed in his own carry-on luggage.
The fact that people used to smoke on airplanes is absolutely WILD.

The point for Bari has never been popularity. She has always been a reactionary propagandist. She will continue pumping out material like this whatever the ratings.
Insanely pathetic numbers for something so highly touted

If the man whose casual references to pizza were enough to spark a quasi-religious conspiracy movement so unhinged it led to an attempted fascist coup against the US government cannot see that the problem isn't left-wing extremism then can we all just acknowledged that centrism is a faith position?
i am once again asking who the "leftist extremists in the faculty lounge" shaping democratic party priorities are, and what policies it is that they are instituting

Wilful ignorance is already the most squalid betrayal of the human spirit. Wilful ignorance stemming from a bruised ego after being criticised is... well, it hurts my heart to think about it.
If you're wondering what happened to Nate Silver, he was into the COVID lab leak theory and got negative feedback online, including from epidemiologists and virologists and (GASP!) posters, which added to his belief that The Woke are victimizing Nate Silver. It spiraled from there.

I'm not kidding.

Trump's inability to ever admit a mistake or fault is deeply, profoundly pathetic. If he weren't such an evil, twisted monster it would be pitiful. It is scant consolation but it signifies someone deeply and constantly terrified and miserably aware of his own inadequacy.

When your bias is towards power, the lack of neutrality inherent in facts looks like bias. The truth, of course, is that power is made of death and lies.
The BBC refused to screen a documentary exposing the targeting of doctors and the healthcare system in Gaza, citing a lack of neutrality, despite the film later winning the British Foreign Press Award, Quds News reports

The Right constantly project their own authoritarianism onto those they hate in order to justify it. They, of course, say the same about us. That's why it's crucial to remember that politics has content as well as form, and facts cut through rhetoric. A mirror and a reflection are not the same thing

The germ theory of disease was proven over a century ago, but people act like holding certain beliefs, performing certain rituals, and having certain social group identities will keep them healthy. It's magical thinking.
People who say that it's unhealthy to eat processed food don't believe that it's unhealthy to get infected with any virus.

All human viruses are worse for you than processed sugar.

I feel like I'm losing my mind. I can't believe this many people are intentionally agressively dangerously ignorant.
