They're not dying. They were killed.

If you use AI to assess student work and writing, quit your job and get out of education.

I’ve been reading a lot of good discussion about the problems of using AI to grade student work, which has left me thinking again about how embedded these tools are becoming while many students are still learning little/nothing about them. theimportantwork.substack.com/p/at-my-high...
At my high school no one is talking about AI
But everyone is using it

These types of people always go after the most vulnerable students, the absolute smallest populations, whenever they want to cut anything across public institutions. It's systemically evil.

The U.S. Department of Education fired nearly everyone in the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services in a wave of new layoffs that began Friday, according to the union representing the agency's employees.

If the compact comes to your university, it's perfectly fine to immediately so no. Like the same day. Don't mull over turning your university into a state sponsored propaganda machine. Seriously. WTF. The answer is an Immediate NO!!

Yeah, wait for Northern Idaho to to find out about this.

Lee Greenwood and his 5th wife who's like 30 years younger. I'm seeing a pattern here.

These articles are part of the whole "let's do a fascism grift because it's so profitable" that Americans believes they can dip their toes in without going full Nazi.

This sounds like a podcast. The American government is now a podcast. "There are two studies out there, bro. They say it is highly likely, dudes."

This is not sustainable. We're already being asked to do too much. We're unable to hire enough staff from budget cuts so everyone is doing 2 jobs & now universities are relentlessly pushing AI without any concern of the consequences to the learning community. It's breaking the soul of learning.
danmartin7.bsky.social
Universities are going to destroy learning and critical thinking if they keep making deals with AI companies that put these tools in front of students who have nothing to lose. Faculty across the nation are now wasting hours trying to curb AI use that their university manufactures and promotes.

It's wild that people bring down the hammer on plagiarism but have Zero to say about AI stealing everything without any consequences.

A rip off degree is when the government forces everyone to go into debt for 30 years to get educated. Claiming any form of education is a rip off shifts the blame for joblessness and low wages onto students and colleges instead of the evisceration of federal funding for higher ed.

Calling English a 'rip-off degree' is one of the most blatant exhibitions of personal barbarism I've ever seen. You've demonstrated nothing but the poverty of your own mind.

America has been stealing labor forever. That's literally what it does. This country is rich because it steals land and labor. That's not new.

Just monitoring a fake crisis that will require federal troops with weapons. America is super fun.

Every single professional development session this term is about AI and it's so annoying. It's just a bunch of people overreacting to the implementation of AI and rushing to be on the front line even though all of this is so terrible for students and the environment.

The news will not cover ICE brutality.

If you are a supporter and reader of @contingent-mag.bsky.social one of the biggest things you can do to help us at the moment is get this CFP to the NTT folks in your life. The fracturing of social media has made it very difficult to get the word out esp. to adjuncts and VAPs.
CFP: A Time of Monsters
The monster has been here all along. It is a historical constant that manifests in wildly different ways across time, place, and culture. Whatever form it takes, the monster claws at categories; it un...

I have concerns abt students going into classes that allow & promote AI use & then going into classes that do not. I'm not sure they will fully understand those mixed messages.
