"It's arguably most productive to view public action against an oppressive force specifically as a game — not as a trifle, but as a series of moves with an end state."

Contributor @therisingtithes.bsky.social connects RPG prep with the increasingly vital labor of public protest.

Wanting to build a game release calendar as an internal tool.

Anyone have a software/template/system that isn't just a spreadsheet made as palatable as possible? Alternatively, tips for making the inevitable spreadsheet sexy?

local government meetings can be free entertainment, as this man either knew or discovered.

I once watched several grown men argue for two hours over whether the town *really* needed fresh water because the pipe would cut through someone's cow pasture.
The guy in the green sweater is hanging on for dear life.

£25,000 is not a massive salary for working in Bath, one of the most expensive cities in the Southwest UK, but I've certainly seen worse!

Don't worry: evangelical Christianity pops up as a bad guy here, too.
The US wasn't the only country to pin an entire moral panic on tabletop RPGs. We spoke with players in Brazil and Spain about their own bookbound boogeymen.

Drip/pour over coffee is a very good and I want an apology from all the euros who have trashed it over the years. Especially the ones who tried to claim that an Americano is somehow an acceptable substitute
"In a nation renowned for sophisticated tastes, the acerbic, harsh espresso served in many bistros was not just surprising, but seemingly inexplicable."

This is why I always used to chuckle when Parisians offhandedly dissed Starbucks. The problem is that the French think their coffee is good.

Thank you to everyone schooling me on the specific services that Cloudflare provides. Effective point is: critical juncture failure means no websites.
lmao nearly every major tabletop platform or website hosts on Cloudflare, which is currently shitting the metaphorical bed.

Kickstarter, Backerkit, and Gamefound. But also itch, Roll20, DTRPG. Effectively the whole online RPG market is offline.

Game company desperate for funds to keep making games said failure to sell shares will have "no material adverse impact on the business."

The same company who asked Kickstarter backers to chip in an extra $0.69 each to cover their shipping bills.
An attempt by financially-troubled board game publisher CMON to raise money by selling new shares has fallen through for the second time this year:

A cute anecdote from this interview is Christie, the archaeologist, being surprised and delighted that Carved in Stone's artists would voraciously read all of her material -- not because it helped their assigned pieces, but because they were genuinely fascinated.
The Picts were always more than their blue-painted, bloodthirsty depictions. Carved in Stone, a new setting guide from @stoutstoat.co.uk and archaeologist Heather Christie, invites players to explore their incomplete but beautiful history.
Carved in Stone is both a history book and an eye-catching RPG
Publisher Brian Tyrrell and archeologist Heather Christie paint a pretty Pict-ure.
