The basic truth is the University of Oklahoma fired an instructor because she had the audacity to do her job while trans. Media like CNN are complicit in simultaneously pushing the anti-trans narrative and covering up the brutal outcomes of this societal purge.

This trans instructor was doing her job, giving a failing grade to a student who cynically did not comply w the assignment.

The instructor was targeted by Turning Point USA who worked hand in glove w the student in a highly orchestrated media hit job to advance its anti-trans hate campaign

This thread puts into words a lot of what I've been struggling with for a while, and especially in the last 24 hours.
I don't want anyone to hate on the ppl who are trying to reassure trans ppl right now, but I also want allies to appreciate that, "Yes, GOP are constantly passing harsher and harsher laws, but they haven't made your health care a felony YET and they probably won't right now" isn't that reassuring.

all the articles you read about this will say it "would charge doctors" but there is nothing in the bill limiting the felony crime to medical providers. you could write "would charge parents" and be just as correct. news outlets downplay it because news outlets are transphobic.

This is possibly the most significant attack on trans rights in this country yet, and I can count the number of posts on my timeline about this on my hands.

If you're trying to dismiss this thinking "It'll die in the senate," DON'T! Sound the alarms now!

This is Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s bill. Today she claimed, "For far too long, children have been sexually exploited under the malicious falsehood of so-called gender-affirming care."
The House passed legislation today that would charge doctors with a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison for providing transition-related care to minors.

Rep. Sarah McBride strongly condemned the legislation in rare personal remarks ahead of the vote.

cis people on the skyline are genuinely more distressed by karoline leavitt’s lip fillers than the fact that congress just said, “what we should do is put any doctor or pharmacist in prison who gives lifesaving medical care to this specific kind of child we find gross.”

great job whipping votes @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social you useless sack of shit. without three Dem defectors this doesn't pass, and now every American family with a trans kid gets to sleep worse worrying about this going to the Senate.
Breaking: House Republicans pass Marjorie Taylor Greene's bill to criminalize doctors that provide gender-affirming care for trans kids. Her bill imposes jail time penalties up to 10 years. Now, it's headed to the Senate where it is not likely to advance as it would need 7 Democrats to sign on

This is what Ezra Klein and Gavin Newsom want the Democrats to compromise with: Folks who believe there is an actual traitorous angel who is rebelling against God by creating my health care regimen. We're meant to believe those will be the folks with a lot of good ideas to move the country forward
"For too long Democrats have tried to mainstream satanic irreversible procedures which destroy the bodies of young children," said Nancy Mace (R-SC), falsely stating that taking HRT leads to disease and cancer.

Here are the 28 Dem Senators who voted to advance the first federal ban on trans athletes & a federal definition of sex that would make trans & intersex people non-existent: Angela Alsobrooks (MD), Tammy Baldwin (WI), Richard Blumenthal (CT), Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE), Chris Coons (DE), ->
By a vote of 76-23, S 1071 passes the motion to proceed to the motion to concur. Won't know who voted for this until the roll call is uploaded, but safe to say it passed with the support of at least 24 members of the Democratic caucus. (Rand Paul probably voted nay and Steve Daines has been absent).
