I've made a bunch of graphic novels. Most recent: CAROUSEL SUMMER (kids) and I HATED YOU IN HIGH SCHOOL (adults). I teach comics & illustration around Vancouver. I spend my spare time sewing. Portfolio can be found here: http://www.kagcomix.com/

It doesn't matter how despicable a person is, mocking their innate physical appearance is always wrong.

Not because it's cruel to them, but because it perpetuates the harmful idea that innate physical appearance has anything to do with one's character / beliefs / actions.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

Absolutely right. This is why we constantly say that if you love a book/author please please please tell people about it.
I’ve said this before, a lot, but when you’re an author and your book doesn’t sell your feelings can default to the premise, “Everyone in the world was offered my book and they all personally rejected it.” The truth is most people don’t know it exists. Awareness is the problem, not you or your book.
also i was like "100% this guy loves dan decarlo" bc i can see echoes of all my fave decarlo techniques in hernadez's drawings.

loving archie comics 🤝 uniting cartoonists for decades
there's a lot in the work that is not particularly to my taste, but very fun to study the inking choices made. Like, time & time again I come back to black & white work with no grey tones and think "this is visually so strong."
My commute book this week is a volume of jaime hernandez's love and rockets work. & my main takeaway rn is that the inking in technically incredible & i am taking notes.

ALAS, All Landlords Are Scum.

Every building falls apart if it's not maintained, whether it's occupied or empty. I hate that landlords will refuse to do ANY maintenance on their properties, and when normal wear and tear occurs because of the lack of prevention, they make the tenants pay for it.
Happy Birthday to your mom!! I have very fond memories about how kind she was way back when we were teens.

Just got my covid (and flu) booster via the roundabout method of clicking last year's "cancel/reschedule" link and signing up, only to find it recommended my next one be october 1st (already past)

What are we doing here? Shoppers is advertising flu shots but we need lifehacks to get one for covid?
thank you for this hot tip!! I was just wondering how to go about getting my shot this year.
Pretty good! I did indeed get some fabric & eat some good food!
i did pick up some extremely cute fabric. it's going in a little stack of fabrics i'm slowly accumulating for a future quilt 😈

tbh I don't think this is that niche but man we gotta make LIVING accessible for people who don't have smart phones and/or data. I'm talking bus schedules, restaurant menus, doing your laundry, accessing social security and unemployment, all of it. we goddamn GOTTA dude
