The problem with Labour (NZ) is that they've painted themselves into a corner with what they can do, and refuse to use the "Increase Taxes" door because National will attack them on it.

This is why the CGT has very specific funding purposes.

The difference between my neighbourhood and others is that in mine the loud noisy neighbours are the local community church. In this case their youth band is practicing real hard.

Regardless of where you stand in terms of political party allegiance, or even just on the political spectrum ... rhetorically positioning a commitment to Te Tiriti as inherently "anti-government" speaks a lot to how you view the policy positioning of the government you're a part of.
Boards Chair here - before our BOT passed a motion affirming our commitment to Te Tiriti, I received emails from parents and teachers urging the board on.

The union never said a word.

Amazing that reaffirming a commitment to Te Tiriti is viewed as "anti-govt" (his words)

In the same week we get justification for the Ministry of Regulation cutting costs to businesses we also get the government being in favour of more regulation/red tape when voting, which will have no impact on what they're trying to achieve.

No, sorry, I mean, fucking Christ, how many nurses is that we could have kept in ANZ? How many radiologists/radiographers is it? Enough to clear the eight-month wait list for a basic CT?
As Craig Renney revealed to a shocked Dr Gary Payinda, Te Whatu Ora underspent its wages budget by $500m which has been signed off by Willis & returned to general coffers. Let that sink in. The money was there, but they deliberately underspent. On orders?

"New Zealand currently feels like it’s at a dead end; our heartless government has gutted our public sector, welfare system, indigenous rights and more, the cost of living is so expensive, and there just aren’t a lot of opportunities in general."

god if that isn't the mood
Captures the mood of much of the country under this government - bleak, with a sense that everything is broken, that there is no opportunity for young people to get ahead, and that the government simply doesn't care.

They're not even doing a proper overhaul of local government, they're just removing a layer they don't like without any serious plans to handle what those regional councils do.

If they were doing a proper overhaul it'd start with how councils are funded.

the state of it, they even took their photographer out to stage a mock photo of them rocking up to a council building like they're heavies collecting rent arrears or some shit

Anderson Cooper: So it's more expensive to have a chronically homeless person living on the streets than it is to actually subsidize an apartment for them?

Answer: Yes, we’re paying more as taxpayers to walk past that person on the street and do nothing… #HousingFirst

1. A landmark study was just published in The Journal of Pediatrics.

It found a 68% reduction in suicidality for trans youth getting HRT.

It also found only 7 of more than 400 stopped taking HRT... and of those that did, 4 still identified as gender-diverse.

Transgender care saves lives.

The groundbreaking study found that suicidality dropped for transgender youth receiving hormone therapy by nearly 70%, with only 7 patients of 432 discontinuing treatment.

This literally means that if a trans person requires GnRH blockers for cancer treatment (i.e breast or prostate), they CANNOT get cancer treatment.

Insane. Absolutely insane - and deadly.
No matter what the politicians say, this is discrimination. Look at how the regulation is worded: This is not a ban on its use for a particular indication, it's a ban for a population.
