Here are 3 ideas to make Parliament reflect Aotearoa better:
1. Hang a copy of Te Tiriti in the debating chamber as a reminder of what is at our foundation.
2. Create space for haka to be performed in the debating chamber.
2. Allow haka from the public gallery with permission.

The dissatisfaction is clear & when that is connected to people struggling financially, that is when people who are frustrated, angry & desperate turn to violence. We need to be aware of this desperation & dissatisfaction & try to help people come together to stop this social fragmentation. #nzpol

Why hypocritical? Because Jordan, his Campaign Company, the TPU & FSU have all engaged in disinformation and attacking those they don’t agree with (see the anti-Māori rhetoric in the stop 3 Waters and Groundswell campaigns they conducted). #nzpol

3 take homes from this:
1. It is bloody scary to have that many Kiwis believe violence is an answer
2. It highlights a real dissatisfaction with what is happening in NZ under this coalition.
3. Jordan’s attempt toclaim the moral high ground is hypocritical.

Something unexpected that I learned on my research trip last week was this: Chairman Mao was gifted a kahu huruhuru in 1957 by Ramai Te Miha Hayward & her husband, NZ pioneer filmmaker, Rudall. It was a gift of goodwill from Māori King Korokī. #nzhistory

True but any type of fundamentalist Christianity is fucked.

A Christian Free Speech Union? If it is evangelical then it will definitely be an oxymoronic waste of space.

Great op piece from @haydendonnell.bsky.social. Interestingly I’ve heard a new term this week - reset. It’s no longer restructuring, but resetting. Strangely the accountants don’t seem to be affected.

Nation upset at the inevitable result of its own actions
Step one: push people out of work and onto the streets. Step two: get mad at people being out of work or on the streets

Very true. The haka is not just used to challenge. It is used to honour, & to support amongst other things. Having it welcomed in Parliament would show we are a truly South Pacific nation not threatened by displays of our indigenous culture. Time we grew up. #nzpol

That is a perfect example of how incompetent they are, & I love it. The sooner they are gone the better off the nation will be. #nzpol

We live in a Māori nation. Our Parliament should reflect that more. The haka from the public gallery is an appropriate response to a maiden speech. Suspended Parliament only reminds Māori that they are not welcome to be authentically themselves there. #nzpol
