Great point from @virginiaheffernan.bsky.social: The spectacle of ordinary people in Minneapolis courageously protecting each other from the ICE invasion is itself inspiring and contrasts powerfully with Miller/Bovino totalitarian cruelties.

Neighbors looking out for neighbors is so powerful that 1) Kash Patel has unleashed the power of the FBI to fabricate links to foreign bad actors 2) Target actively reducing its foot traffic by not acknowledging ICE makes its stores unsafe. 3) Ellison has influenced TikTok to stop the story.

No one in MN is safe from the consequences of ICE’s illegitimate operation, 2 weeks ago ICE rammed a special ed teacher at a school and blocked a road I drive on with my kids everyday in our suburb. We all know they can’t even direct traffic w/o kidnapping someone or shooting us.

Never forget the Minnesota GOP invited Nick Shirley here & plied him with intel, resulting in targeted harassment of innocent people and ultimately, this occupation.

Congressional Republicans gave Trump a slush fund for ICE and CBP in the "Big Beautiful Bill." Tens of billions of dollars that is still usable even during a shutdown.

Democrats must make rescinding that money the price of any future govt funding, as Republicans did with IRS money from the IRA.

"Observer" feels too neutral for what people are doing in Minnesota. They are witnesses.

They're consciously bearing witness to crimes against their neighbors. As witnesses, they are providing evidence to present and future governments that can prosecute crimes. They deserve witness protection.

Crime rates nationally and in most cities are at or near historic lows, why would local police need more funding?

Just abolish ICE, this isn’t hard.
Public safety means stopping violent crime — not weaponizing ICE against our communities.

That’s why I'm proposing a bill that redirects nearly $75 billion from ICE to local law enforcement.

There are dozens of stories like this which seems to point to an emerging pattern of them randomly stopping an immigrant regardless of status, detaining them, and then later fabricating a crime based on the encounter itself as evidence to indefinitely detain and pursue charges to revoke status.

The GOP should worry less about Proud Boy-types threatening them for going against Trump, and more about veterans who may be forced into making a Walter White-style decision after losing VA care due to Musk’s depravity.

That’s just one of countless scenarios that are absolutely on the table.

If we extrapolate the current war against Ukraine to World War II (as we often do), at this point, Hitler has invaded Poland but suffered defeats near Warsaw and Krakow, lost Poznan and has been locked in grueling battles for almost three years over completely devastated border districts.
