There’s nothing wrong with @casten.house.gov being an electoral underperformer in a safe seat, but in his thread attacking me he is asking Democrats to defer to his political judgment. I think it’s a smarter bet to defer to folks who overperform in tough races.

This entire debate would be over if anyone bothered to look at the income distribution data and how the share of total income for the bottom 50% has been basically stagnant (and actually decreased from 2023-2024).

Anyone trying to tell you this doesn’t understand the income gap or how medians work.
Americans in their 20s and 30s may not feel that they’re richer than their equivalents 60 years ago, but they’re objectively wrong.
It’s fascinating how important it is to some people not to say “I’m struggling, it’s hard” or “I need help”—objectively true—but to instead insist they have it worse.
