If you don't drink (or temporarily aren't drinking) and miss it, an NA beer scratches the muscle-memory itch when you're with people who are drinking. Also nice to have if you are drinking and want to stay out w/friends for "one more drink" w/out having more alcohol. And some of them are very good.
I've never really understood the demographic for this beverage. Wouldn't you rather have a ginger ale? What's the benefit of the taste of beer without the alcohol? I doubt anyone really drinks beer for the taste of it first and most.

Nothing makes you appreciate editors more than three years of blogging alone at night for a website with several million readers.
I do not have a newsletter because I understand, deep down in my soul, that I need an editor
Editors have a really hard job, and the good ones can make something unreadable readable, and the great ones can make something unreadable into something good. But they're basically invisible, until someone tries to write without one.

Do the same with fire departments: abolish them and give people the proceeds to protect themselves from fires. Fire fighters just sit around most of the day anyway. They’re leaches on society.

Reader: the actual solution is to make all insurance public rather than private, not to abolish it.
Cassidy: "The president is proposing that we take the $26b that would be going to insurance companies if we just do an extension and give it directly to the American people in which 100% of the money is used for them to purchase healthcare on their own terms. That makes them an informed consumer."

Something I've been thinking about is that even if the Dems do win in 2026 and 2028...what comes next for the Republican Party is going to be really, really bad.
I do think a lot of people are underestimating the risks of the GOP civil war. I remember thinking in 2015/16 that Trump moving the the GOP further to the right was going to make it easier for Dems to win, and boy was I wrong there. The Outright Antisemitism wing beating MAGA could be Real Bad.

you could fact check this — there aren’t 30 million illegal immigrants and there is no evidence that the presence of an immigrant in say houston has any impact on housing in madison, wisconsin — or you could note straightforwardly that this is just nazi rhetoric
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

That this man is somehow only one year older than me is proof that evil rots the skin
This is good reporting and all that but here's the thing I learned the other day: Bill Pulte, the 50-year-mortgage dude and the guy who keeps pulling the mortgage docs of Trump's enemies is only 37 years old.
