One of Biden’s and the Democrats’ worst decisions was this law to force-sell the only non-silicon valley social platform to a coalition of Trump allies. Just titanically poor judgement very explicitly aimed at censoring pro-Palestine speech that will now be used to censor all liberal speech instead.

India's electrification shortcut! ⚡️🇮🇳

Solar, wind, batteries, electric vehicles...India's economy has different tools available than the US and China did at the same stage in their economic development.

The result? An early turn away from fossil molecules towards electrons.

i feel like Shapiro and Newsom are broadly overrated as 2028 contenders
I remain perplexed by Shapiro's apparent belief that attacking Kamala Harris, and on an issue where Shapiro is incredibly out of step with his party's base, will somehow catapult him to the presidency.

People who say this are clearly speaking aspirationally about a shared American creed they hold dear. “Have you heard of the Trail of Tears?” is not a very helpful response, because they probably have and the priority right now is moral opposition to fascism and not fake-educating each other.
I fear my tipping point into madness is "Thus is un-American" posts in response to ICE terrorizing immigrants. I beg you to open Wikipedia (I would say a book but let's start small) and read up on The Trail of Tears, Fugitive Slave Catchers, Japanese internment, Indian Boarding schools & Jim Crow

yes this country has a long and storied history of racism, no shit

but it has an equally long and storied history of people who dedicated their lives to fulfilling the too-often-broken American promise

and there is nothing more American than that

Allow me to be more or less violently clear, since this has actually fucked me off: no, no polity that existed in 1941 was as bad as Nazi Germany, and that is not a compliment to anybody. That is simply a statement of fact. Yes, I mean you, person victimised by someone else: you can't say that.

The Democratic leaders in Congress have repeatedly shown that they have no interest in leading an effective opposition.

They have no appetite for the legislative trench warfare this moment requires. They don't even have the will to speak about it clearly. They just want to be left alone.
We have to get rid of Jeffries and Schumer. We have to. It’s unendurable that these men are the most prominent Democrats of the moment. They are two of the most broadly undistinguished men I could imagine in politics, zero fire, zero fight, zero zeal, machine politicians with sinecures.

authoritarian regimes are actually more sensitive to public opinion than democratic ones because they do not have a reliable mechanism to reset their legitimacy (ie actual elections)!
How is it that so many people think that authoritarianism is a way to bypass completely public opinion?

The debate "rehabilitating" Hanania in particular is profoundly stupid because he has changed none of his views, suffered no consequences, contributes no benefits or assets, theoretical or practical, to the anti-Trump coalition, and is very open about being having total contempt for his allies.

if we do not push Chuck Schumer out of power, he will not just meekly submit to the right until they put him in the camps, he will blow up NATO as well
The incredibly lukewarm Democratic response on Greenland is being noticed in Europe, incidentally.

Chuck Schumer not finding a stronger word than “quixotic” for Trump’s plan to seize Greenland has been name checked to me more than once.
But Americans who want to save the alliance with Europe must have no illusions about how bad a condition this transatlantic partnership is in.

This last point is likely correct. Covid lockdowns showed that pretty much everyone in the world is better able to put up with disruption than Americans.
The US could certainly hit back and cause economic disruption in Europe but that will likely cause a rally around the leader/flag in Europe. That’s what happened when Russian gas was cut off/blew up In 2022/23. Europeans will be much more accepting of economic disruption. Americans less so. 5/
