Democrats could act like a real opposition party, refusing to validate Trump malfeasance with votes, and setting up a shadow cabinet that regularly communicates how Democrats would be different. But nah.

Half the battle with this guy is just reiterating government can and already does good things that are so ubiquitous they’ve become invisible. He’s able to remind you in a way that you understand that good government can exist outside of a 24/7 vengeance operation, and in NYC already does.

it’s an odd feeling: there are dozens of people in my neighborhood whose names I don’t even know, but whose now-familiar voices give me strength and who I’d literally trust with my life. there are thousands in Minneapolis who I know I share an overriding purpose with - almost all anonymous to me

Been very cold but Somali restaurant offers us delicious, warm tea constantly.

Talked to a Somali man today who said his mosque last night was surrounded by neighbors ready to protect them against ICE if needed. Made me feel proud to live in this city.
