I cannot remember if it was @joeovies.bsky.social or Giglio who have always said the CFP rankings early on are just about ensuring the narrative the CFP wants is in place before the final rankings. Nowhere is that more obvious than UVA still being ranked - ensuring the ACC saves face regardless

It has occurred to me that its now technically very possible for Duke to lose this week, win the ACCCG with four losses and finished ranked below a G5 team and shut the ACC out of the playoffs entirely. Would be both incredibly funny and incredibly sad.
