As I wrote this summer, they had offers but didn’t want to lose a center unless they could acquire a suitable replacement/improvement.
lukedecock.bsky.social
That does not surprise me. You have to think of KK’s salary as the acquisition cost, not a measure of his true value. Impossible to unwind the two.

If someone told me a month ago that Brandon Bussi would be starting Game 3 and Jaccob Slavin was dealing with a mysterious knee injury I would not have bought it.

Seth Jarvis going 2-for-2 on GWGs, yes. But not the other stuff.

The Triangle comeback in women’s hoops since 2016 — when all three teams missed the NCAA tournament for the first time in a generation — is stunning.

NC State is humming. Duke has improved its NCAA finish three straight years. UNC has five straight NCAA bids.

It’s a new golden era.

Can reviewing more plays by coach's challenge get basketball games back under two hours? Let's hope so.

ACC supervisor Bryan Kersey: “My opinion, officials went to the monitor too many times at the end of the game. Sometimes I think we used it as a crutch.”

Will NCAA’s new coach’s challenge help get games back under two hours?
ACC officiating supervisor Bryan Kersey hopes this season’s new rules will speed up games that have bloated by 6 minutes over five years.

Truly atrocious piece, too. Screencapping so you don't have to give them the traffic.

Literally just an emotionless, robotic summary of the game sheet, with a note telling us that they couldn't even bother getting an editor to skim it

The race to the bottom is such garbage

Gretzky's Oilers, famously, had the Islanders. The Panthers had the Lightning. Steel sharpens steel. Dethroning a dynasty can beget a new one.

The biggest question facing the Hurricanes this season: Have they learned enough from the Panthers to overtake them?

Have the Carolina Hurricanes learned enough from the Panthers to dethrone them?
Steel sharpens steel. Every great team needs another great team to learn from. Are the Hurricanes ready to take the next step?

The Bill Belichick Era has already far exceeded the comic potential I thought it contained, and my level of expectation was “a beautiful disaster, like a monkey flying a 737.” It’s glorious. All we need now is something like a BB&JH Men’s Health cover reveal and it’ll be a perfect day.

North Carolina issues a statement comprising Belichick saying he remains committed to the program he's been hired to coach, and the vote of confidence from the AD.
Two totally normal things to say in the middle of a coach's first season!

This will end up OK for UNC, though, because as bad as UNC boosters and NC politicians are at hiring football coaches, some of them have a lot of experience navigating messy, expensive divorces.

I STAND CORRECTED

The great @d1scourse.bsky.social reports that John Thompson — yes, ECU’s John Thompson — had matching GoDaddy.com Bowl wins as interim HC in 2012 and 2013 at Arkansas State.

That’s one fewer victory than he had in two seasons at East Carolina (3-20).

I was never so certain of anything in my sporting life that Doeren was going to paddle Belichick worse than Dabo did.

And I threatened to throw a shoe at Manny Diaz’s presser if he got to 41-0 and didn’t stop there and take a photo.

All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

Dave Doeren has to be looking at all these Belichick reports and thinking “why can’t I catch a fucking break?” It was set up so perfectly for a walk off UNC demolition over a multi Super Bowl winning HOF coach. Next OG Lite on us, DD.

The ACC has finally come around to the idea that basketball needs fixing. In the end, though, there's only one fix: Win more games.

"We can’t be stuck in the past as a league of, ‘Well, we’re the ACC.’" Pitt's Jeff Capel said. "We can’t have that arrogance.”

ACC basketball issues have reached critical mass. There’s only one way out
After getting only four teams into the NCAA tournament in March, a fourth straight year with five or fewer bids, the ACC is in crisis.
