I’ve been making that argument for a long time waiting for the consequences, and I think it’ll be a gradually-then-suddenly thing. Feels like we’ve crossed that Rubicon as far as college football in the Triangle. Hoops is still hoops though (and may always be).

It’s not that the Triangle doesn’t care about football; it’s that the Triangle doesn’t care as much about football as everywhere else. And there’s nothing wrong with that.

I don’t know how long BC can stay in the ACC now that revenue isn’t equally distributed. That feels like a financial death spiral for a school that hasn’t shown it can compete at this level the way it does in hockey. But I’ve said that for a decade and it hasn’t gotten better and BC is still here.

What I still don’t get is how ratings are the most important thing now but you’re trashing that game — which any idiot could see in May was a potential top-25 matchup — for extra UNC-Syracuse and State-Virginia games.
