Before antagonistically commenting on my takes, take a moment to consider that I’m smarter, wiser and simply better than you, and thus there must be something you’re missing if you think I’m wrong. There are at most 10 people to whom this doesn’t apply.

You get all these artistic depictions of the Chicxulub asteroid that have it as, like, this big glowing rock in the sky, like the moon from Majora's Mask, and "oh, what would that have been like!? Imagine the stress!"

But the reality is almost worse.

It's never been easier to quietly and carefully teach yourself material that you never learned. Youtube is full of lectures and the internet is full of notes.

PLEASE DO NOT MAKE CHATGPT YOUR TEACHER

Pick human teachers & when I say learn, I mean to do things yourself, not to prompt wolfram alpha

IMPORTANTLY:
Be honest with yourself about what you don't understand. Doesn't matter why you don't know. Could be something that was really unfair/not your fault. Racism in the classroom, sexist study groups, whatever. Go to therapy to deal with it! Don't let your pain be a barrier to your learning.

I think too often physics students unconsciously have the idea that some people have brains that are "natural" for physics and some don't and who knows maybe that's true to some extent but regardless of natural tendency at some point everyone has to practice practice practice

If you feel like you are behind or underprepared, the only way out is through: spend the time on the things you don't know, figure out who will answer your "stupid" questions. Then ask them, even if it's anonymously online

A note on learning physics ⚛️ for starting PhD students:
At the risk of saying something completely useless because everyone has it worked out

There is no magic trick, your classmates *may* be faster than you, but they are still studying as long as they need to and you are quite capable of the same

Except they haven't lost Temu Onion. Misogyny sells. MAGA was built on it &, judging by the comments, liberal/left love it too. That Trump has so little respect for women he hires sexualized objects he hopes will gain him sexual access isn't insulting Trump, it's a male power fantasy.
Oh my. When you've lost the Babylon Bee …

Whenever I wanna see if there’s any clumping of values in data at a first glance, I usually don’t do a histogram. Instead, I arrange them in increasing order. Large gaps in values indicate groupings better.

If a DnD gnome shoots an arrow directly down, at just the right time when jumping in mid air, they can increase their jump height by 5 or so centimeters.

"What if we give people without hearing problems access to pre-written lecture notes to study? It's impossible to say, but it would definitely be bad, so we need to make it impossible to access these notes for the sake of protecting accessibility."
Balancing "no person with a disability should be denied accommodations" with "it's important to discourage non-disabled people from pretending to be disabled to take advantage of these accommodations" is really difficult and I don't have a great answer for what anyone should do about it.

Capitalists managed to turn a very simple and *completely normal* problem with automation, into the popular conception of luddites, to the point where they convinced people it's weird to not want to come home missing limbs for a fraction of the wages you deserve.

"I produce 10x more than I did last year but still make the same money. And the machine I now use eats human fingers. Who the fuck is benefiting here?"

Not a difficult issue, not a weird position for a person to have.

"I'm being paid the same now, when I make 500 shirts a day, as I did when I made 50 shirts a day. Where the fuck is the money going?"

The popular idea of luddites is entirely due to generations of capitalists trying their damnedest to obscure what is a very simple issue.

An easy way to explain luddites:

Textile manufacturers brought in machines that could do in an hour what would have taken 12 hours by hand.

And then, tried to keep paying the now 12x more productive workers the same wages as before.

That's it, that was the problem luddites had. Not complex.

Anarchists know that a long period of education must precede any great fundamental change in society, hence they do not believe in vote begging, nor political campaigns, but rather in the development of self-thinking individuals.

I am not aiming to be hot. I’m aiming to have good shape design. I’m aiming to have a characteristic silhouette. I’m aiming for my form to be easily implied by a minimal number of lines or strokes. I want people to be able to draw me without having any drawing skills.
