Bluesky not addictive to teens but definitely a crutch for elder millennials who know too much about the Bajoran war.

Meta, YouTube, TikTok and Snapchat know how addictive their platforms can be to teens.

Those are allegations a group of school districts is making against the social media giants, according to a newly unsealed legal filing that quotes the companies’ own internal documents. https://cnn.it/3Xjq5x5

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

When my sister and I worked at Steak n Shake when the pumpkin pies came in we would sneak back to the walk-in freezer with forks and descend upon a pie like vultures then tell the manager they must have been off one pie on their inventory count.
So my pie take is there are no bad pies, but some pies have to be eaten a certain way:

1. Pecan: Always good

2. Fruit: Must be homemade. Otherwise bad.

3. Pumpkin: Best eaten cold at 7 am standing over a sink before everyone wakes up
Apple pie is bad. This is not really debatable. So is key lime pie, while we’re on the topic. Pecan pie is the 🐐 tho.

All dessert is good because it’s dessert, just like all pizza is great because it’s pizza.

I think you could get people to see a new Rush Hour if half the film were comprised of Katt Williams roasting everyone involved.

John & Yoko: One to One is so good and kind of terrifying looking into the mirror world of the 1970s. The running gag of Yoko trying to track down live flies, however, is a nice comedic break.

I love the library. My kid loves the library. We max out all our cards getting books for her every month. I am sometimes overwhelmed by the sheer volume of picture books tho and I just found out LAPL has a form you can fill out and a librarian will select 5 books for your kid and put them on hold. 😎

Oh my god yes this is exactly what I was talking about with regard to the parenting recipe blogs with disgusting AI photos!
NEW: AI “recipe slop” is overrunning search and social. Food creators say Google’s AI Overviews and glossy fake food pics are drowning out real, tested recipes — collapsing traffic and setting home cooks up for disaster, especially this Thanksgiving.

Man you don’t even need to be an expert. I rewatched that old Enron documentary a few weeks ago and was like oh that’s how AI is cooking the books.
“Artificial intelligence, meet artificial accounting.” The guy who first pointed out Enron’s sketchy accounting is now scrutinizing AI accounting and it’s the same nonsense: www.wsj.com/tech/meta-ai...

I was the assistant editor on MY OWN PRIVATE IDAHO. I have 9000 stories from that time, and many of them feature this man who passed away this morning, Udo Kier. He would talk about Fassbinder, Warhol and Paul Morrissey for hours. I was so lucky to get to know Udo and he will be missed by so many.

Udo Kier in Swan Song turned out to be one of my favorite Udo performances and is a beautiful and funny meditation on death if you’re in the market for an Udo you might not have caught.
