I do not want to have to clean up after a machine all the time. That sounds tiresome and--not exciting!

Washing machines and dishwashers were exciting when they first came out, because they do a job and do it well.

But what if your washing machine just didn't get your clothes clean half the time?

Oh *goddammit*
Only a very specific baking audience is going to care about this but apparently the company that makes Silpat has abruptly shut down. I’m personally buying up ones I can find from secondary retailers cause these things are irreplaceable. I’m bummed.

okay let's do a thread of FUN ONLY, no-stress, low-stakes New Year's Resolutions that are designed not to make you become a Better™️ Person™️ but purely to increase the amount of happiness in your life in 2026

I'm going to learn Polish folk embroidery and I want to DM at least a one-shot of something

Reading this made me feel more sure that I'm on the spectrum...
In your 20s, there will be a LARPing event that will suck so bad you'll spend three days having back to back panic attacks.

It's very important that you go.

Or: let me tell you about how I learnt I was autistic. 🧵

Just imagining how much better it would be if ALL news stories about vaccine-preventable illnesses were illustrated with pictures of people with the disease, not pictures of needle injections. If you must show something that people will find scary & unpleasant, make it the disease, not the cure.
I'm so tired of measles.

I'm also tired of people using needle shots on stories like this.

Show what measles looks like.

I realize that it's so basic that it's practically banal to say it, but we really, really, really need to stop talking so much about people's motives, explicit or presumed, and spend much more time simply and accurately talking about their actions the consequences of those actions.

I actually love hearing other languages. There are so many of them and they’re beautiful.

Getting mad about it is a skill issue. And to be clear, that skill is empathy.

I have a theory that one reason people are suspicious of the COVID vaccine is because it causes such an active immune response and you FEEL it

Immune responses make you feel like shit! Especially if they’re strong enough to shrink or cure tumors

You gently run your hand through the rack. You can feel it—pure cotton, rich wool, Irish linen. The plump buttonholes are handsewn; the buttons attached with a firm shank. You flip the price tag over. It's affordable

You buy the jacket and go home, which is only 15 mins away. Your apt is $600/month

Quick reminder to the small number of people who are like “but is it real bread if it contains Chemicals?”

We add preservatives to bread because before we did that, poor people (and sometimes rich ones) died of starvation or food poisoning.

Say it after me: Chat GPT is not a search engine. It does not scan the web for information, it just generates statistically likely sentences. You cannot use it a search engine, or as a substitute for searching.

Now. Please never use an LLM for information searches ever again.
