Misinterpreting the most vulnerable and self-defensive attempt to survive as a hostile act? Who do you think you are, a cop?
Q: What did you see in the second strike?

Cotton: "I saw two survivors trying to flip a boat -- loaded with drugs, bound for the United States -- back over, so they could stay in the fight."

HEY USA FRIENDS it’s holiday season at the post office so here’s my annual thread on how to make all of your postal workers have a nicer month!

1. Be nice and prepared if you’re mailing things! You might have to wait! Still be polite and click the smiley face on the stupid little screen!

i think the inability to tell the difference between "i don't like it" and "i don't like it so i have to figure out a way to imply this thing i don't like is morally evil" is the most fundie thing i see people who are aren't technically fundie regularly do these days

Listened in as the Elder Nibling was watching a TikToker address this, and out of curiosity I dug around to find out it's actually around a third speaking English *as an additional language* so I'm wondering how much of that might actually be fully bilingual kids from our various Asian communities.
Personally I think it shows the deep tolerance of Scotland that it allows so many kids to keep speaking a foreign language like English. Forcing them all to learn Gaelic, Scots or Norn seems a bit much to me.

continuing proof that Threads is just people competing to come up with the most unhinged variation on every possible discourse

maybe this was the only natural endpoint of the POV wars tho
here's the whole comment. imagine thinking that romance and romantasy and YA are the only books written in first person. that's WILLLLLLLLD.

This World AIDS Day, we remember the hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers lost to HIV and AIDS, and those living with HIV today. We must remind ourselves and each other that the fight isn’t over until the epidemic is over for everyone.

This article does not contain a single piece of evidence for its central premise.
I don't think I've ever disagreed and agreed more strongly with a piece, seesawing from one paragraph to the next.

Will come back to dissect.

I am putting together a large multimedia journal project made up entirely of quotes from “The Cold Equations” by Tom Godwin and quotes from other people about the famous hard SF story.

Just because I felt like it.

Is that the geekiest journal project ever? 🧐

I'm sure many people have mentioned this, but I think it needs to be mentioned again: women do not have yearbooks. Children do. Because yearbooks contain photos of high school students. Or younger.
This is a nuts story. An AI chatbot and image platform left millions of images exposed. They show what people are actually using the AI for: taking random women's yearbook, graduation, and social media photos and making super realistic hardcore porn with them

I just got a cool T-shirt from the J. R. Ward Official Shop. I love the way the color bursts out!

Also, even the way it was packaged was cool. The card inside includes a "Thank You!" to her fans.

Check out the merch at thejrwardshop.com.

Ugh, I can’t stand this publishing startup. They pay people to write fan fiction — they tried to commission a story from me. 831 Stories was founded by MBA brains who saw how lucrative romance is as a genre, and their branding targets lit snobs who think they are better than romance.

831 Stories is all-in on the romance genre, and the founders are cultivating a whole world around the books they publish, complete with fanfiction and merchandise.
