Reporters, if you wrote about learning loss due to covid school closures, you can write about learning loss due to state terror.
I am not being snarky. I need my colleagues who wrote on covid school lockdowns to engage with this. To be as loud as they have been about prior "learning loss." Hell, you can cite Tom & Mark's AERJ paper so you feel better that there's some econ somewhere in your argument.

In Chicago, we've seen sports championships parades w/crowd density like this w/estimates of 1.5M+ attendees.
Think about that. MN's entire state population is 5.8M, of which ~3.75M live in the MSP region.
If this protest is estimated at 1.5M+, then upwards of *40-50%* of locals participated.

Part of what makes this such a tactical mistake is that if they retreated from MN and moved to Seattle, the bar has been set. We'd be all, "Well I don't like that I have to leave my house and talk with other people, but *shrug*. Just make sure there's good coffee and maybe a decent band there!"
If the admin's strategic goal was to break public resistance to immigration enforcement activities, it was a tactical mistake to go to the Twin Cities.

I spent a lot of time in Minnesota as a kid - I lived in Wayzata for a year, spent a lot of time with family (almost all of whom were in MN) there, and started college at St. Olaf (um yah yah!), so I really do feel close to and of these people.

everyone needs to know it's -8° FAHRENHEIT (-22°C) with a -20° FAHRENHEIT (-28°C) windchill in Minneapolis/St. Paul right now. I don't want europeans assuming it's -8°C (17°F) which, depending on what the temperature was the day before, could almost be shorts weather in MN.
