In case anyone is wondering, Horses runs just fine on Deck via Heroic Launcher.
After spending a bit of time with it, yeah, it's as if Salò took place in Stardew Valley and Eraserhead era Lynch is directing.
Definitely worth your time and attention.

It was so last minute, that if you're quick enough, you can still buy a copy on itch, receive an Epic key, claim it, and download the game.
Yesterday, the Epic Games Store decided at the last minute not to distribute the game, after having previously approved a release build. HORSES is otherwise now available on GOG, Itch, and Humble for $4.99. www.horses.wtf

ofc i do think games are an art form. but i also feel that that whole cultural battle was mostly waged by and on behalf of large corporations who wanted to lend cultural prestige to their multi million dollar IPs, and theyve been perfectly happy to stamp out aesthetic risk from their work and others

holy fuck this is ridiculous, how can we claim games are art if art is this scary to our two primary distribution channels?

Happy Horses Day for those who celebrate! Remember to go out and get @santaragione.com's new game at Itch, GOG or anywhere else BUT Steam today, it's only $5 to support an indie developer affected by storefront bullshit.

This thread was a hell of a way of learning that Stoppard passed away.
Rest in prodigy, old man. Thank you for all your work.
Nine years ago Mike Fitzgerald wrote up an extraordinarily fascinating breakdown of the differences between the Tom Stoppard shooting script and the original Jeffrey Boam draft of Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade.

It's well worth your time: www.creativescreenwriting.com/indiana-jone...

Announcing the sequel to Let It Die called Kill It With Fire 🔥
boycott this bullshit
The original Let It Die was famous for its absolutely amazing soundtrack. Akira Yamaoka went and got in touch with a HUNDRED of his favourite indie bands and commissioned each to do a track named 'let it die'. The result was borderline mystical.

They're AI-generating the music here.

Fuck that.
The Let it Die sequel - Let it Die: Inferno - which is coming out next week (4th December), seems to have been built using a considerable amount of generative AI. https://bit.ly/4ol7lIA

I think Silksong is our best look at what video game would look like if we had UBI
Honest question: If everyone got Universal Basic Income, no strings attached, what would YOU do with it?

me watching the first seconds of the trailer: hmm, they should've made a few more passes on the UI
seeing who are making it: wow, they came such a long way

The additional context is that Valve is still killing a beloved games studio, still tried to weasel out of making a press statement, still didn't allow a second review, and still did not communicate with the developer beyond vague references to their terms.

If you don't live in France, it's hard to really grasp how deeply islamophobic and racist its institutions still are, to this day. They're happy to let you work for them or to consume your cultural goods, but they don't like it when you're *too* arab.
We were invited to screen Still Playing at Amiens Jail in France as part of the cultural activity

They asked me to take off my Kufiya claming its religious symbol

I explained it’s part of my culture worn by people regardless of their religion

I refused to take it off & the screening was cancelled
