"Something like: Hey Sarah, still laughing about [tiny shared moment/reference if you've got one] - good to meet you!" Rich went back and forth with ChatGPT until he felt they'd hit upon exactly the right message ("Hey Sarah, it was lovely to meet you") but sadly she never replied, he says. "It's been two weeks now."

LLM AI exists to crush labour. That's not even my surmise, the people paying billions of dollars to fund this stuff are extremely open and explicit that this is their goal.

There are no ethical use cases for LLMs at this point in time. Maybe when the bubble has popped thoroughly. Not before.

Fascinating work here tracing how the IDF recycled 3D assets from a cyberpunk sci-fi art project, the Scottish Maritime Museum and elsewhere to populate its widely-seen models of supposed enemy locations in Gaza, Lebanon and Iran. One of the most infamous, the alleged underground Hamas command center at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, used to justify an unprecedented assault on the biggest medical center in Gaza, was actually an animation the IDF had used the previous year, saying at the time it was a tunnel beneath a UN school.

at some point I really think there needs to be some sort of large scale pushback on Valve for their complete abdication of responsibility in moderating steam forums to every individual developer regardless of whether or not they asked for it, allowing this tumour to completely fester.

Transition Montreal's platform on policing blows the old parties away:
(1) transfer non-criminal 911 calls to a civilian response unit,
(2) stop the police from exceeding its budget by $50M/year and use the money to fund violence prevention,
(3) abolish street checks.

The two old Montreal parties are promising exactly the same police "reforms": body cameras and mixed squads (police + social workers).
The first policy is demanded by the police brotherhoods to increase police power and impunity. The second just wrecks community work.
