Geeky lover of many things, but especially Star Trek and Animation.
These are hurting more and more when they happen.

Hot dang this video essay hits hard, is well researched, and aligns so well with what I think ails this world.

I feel that now, more than ever, solidarity of the 99% will truly be one of the few things that can fix this absolute mess of a techno feudal-ish world.

Mega worth the watch:

“AI is clearly sticking around so you have to get used to it” wrong. I don’t have to get used to shit. I am a practiced hater and I can keep this going for decades if I am required to

Seconded. That last line hits hard.
This is actually quite brilliant, up to and including the final sentence 🔥

Remember, the big argument for AI in the arts is that these “artists” have ideas, hundreds of ideas, thousands, all that was stopping them was the hoards of gatekeeping musicians, writers, illustrators… and not that they were lazy and didn’t want to put in the work.

Love it. When in Rome right?
I had the chance to go to Rome for work, so naturally, I did something goofy…

But then, what else is new?

Hey @sitcompeople.bsky.social I was cleaning my attic and found tapes of this short-lived '90s sitcom I forgot I was in called Fallacy Falls. Don't look it up, just feature me.

Stuff on my laptop screen always looks WAY more saturated than it does on my tablet where I do my actual work. Meanwhile my phone is somewhere in the middle.

It is what it is and it will always be this way.

Don't sweat it.
Listen to me. Listen. If you're making images that will only be displayed on screens, YOU HAVE TO LET GO. You can calibrate your screens perfectly, but then 25k people will see it on their shitty $50 monitors or cracked phone and its out of your hands. Don't think of it. Achieve enlightenment.

The key marketing issue was this poster was too rad for the people of the time.
The iconic art deco movie poster designed by John Mattos was cited by Disney as a key issue in the marketing for THE ROCKETEER (1991) as it was a mysterious image that didn’t showcase the cast enough. Funny enough, this is exactly what made me want to see the film originally.

There is no constitution if he gets away with this. The Congress is an empty vessel.
President Trump on Wednesday signed a memorandum expanding his administration’s authority to repurpose unspent federal funds to pay members of the military during the government shutdown, escalating his challenge to the authority of Congress on spending matters.
Trump Signs Memo Expanding His Authority to Spend Federal Money
The president gave Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth wide authority to repurpose funds to pay members of the military without approval from Congress, which has the sole constitutional authority to decide federal spending.

If you would like to be sad I recommend reading any feature article from 2014 or earlier. The undercurrent of optimism. The general lack of cynicism. The unspoken belief that the future would be better than the past
