@schumer.senate.gov @democrats.org @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social , please no wishy washy statements and letters. Imagine what GOP/Fox would do to a Democratic president. They would be relentless. They would impeach. They would hound any D politician.
Yes, this is exactly the time to demand Democrats "do something."

They can denounce Trump's actions as unconstitutional. They can state that he must be impeached and removed. They can make clear that all involved will be held accountable.

These are the core duties of a role they all signed up for.

1. Maduro is not a good guy by any stretch of the imagination.
2. But capturing him through an extra-legal action that violates international law undermines any US credibility with Russia in Ukraine and China with Taiwan.
3. We have a terrible history with topping leaders without a post-war plan.

Strange takes on Mayor Zamdani swearing his oath on the Qu’ran. It has nothing to do with church & state. The point of the oath is for the person swearing in to do so upon some text that is sacred TO THEM. Some Presidents swore in w/o any book. John Quincy Adams was sworn on a law book. His choice.

What Trump's focused on instead of bringing down struggling Americans' grocery prices. And this was all very predictable.

Here is the 255-page Jack Smith deposition transcript.

The House Judiciary Committee just released it.

Don't let it get buried and obscured with all the bs news Trump and his thugs are going to flood us with.

It's not just younger scholars. It's the whole field that shies from controversies, debates, critiques. When was there a last generative disagreement or a book review that spurred new research? Think the Finlay/Zemon Davis debate

To accommodate the Mayor-elect's swearing-in tonight in the City Hall subway station, 6 trains will be running to Bowling Green and turning around via the inner South Ferry loop. Do with that information what you will.

Democrats need both Project 2027 and Project 2029. A vision ahead and a plan to clean up the rubble and rebuild.

who did this

Entirely self-inflicted thanks to the disinformation spread by those who hold what used be considered fringe beliefs.

Dispiriting. What a world.

A short podcast with me on structural antisemitism, in which I also discuss the political weaponization of antisemitism today:

Far-right groups are co-opting the aesthetics of the Crusades for their own objectives, transforming an obsession with feudal justice into a campaign for a White Christian nation.
Why We Should All Be Worried About "Crusadercore"
This online trend equips young, White men with a historically bastardized visual lexicon — one that gives new credence and religious authority to far-right bigotry.

The trouble with satire is that you need knowledge to be able to decipher what's going on. I find too many take texts/plays/social media posts at face value.

More news (not good) from NIH

The renewal request from National Institute of Neurological Diseases and Stroke Director Walter Koroshetz has been denied.

I guess the NIH_leadership™ needed another position to fill with their time-tested recruitment process.
Not sure I understand why the Trump administration cares about Christians in Nigeria and not Christians in Ukraine

Peeps, you DO realize that our non-white friends and neighbors...are now carrying their birth certificates and passports so they can PROVE they are US citizens "just in case"?

There is NO version of America where this is OK. Defund ICE. Restore due process and rule of law.

Public discourse on this subject has utterly failed to direct citizens' attention to the actual problem, which is that a commercial industry is assaulting education. So every week we get another thoughtless op-ed on blue books or the death of the college essay, etc etc.

We have forgotten what it's like to hold a child paralyzed with polio or comfort a mom who has lost her child from measles. It wasn’t that many generations ago. And I don‘t want to see us go backward. They protect children. They are our best defense against these terrible illnesses.
