No Kings protests were one of the few times Trump, MAGA, and right-wing media were reacting to something the opposition did, rather than the opposition reacting to whatever they do.
Adopt a principle from war strategy: generally better to be taking action and forcing opponents to react. Good point.
Point five is really important. The protests provoked errors from the administration (shit force one) that may haunt them for years. That’s what happens when you stop being reactive.

Brian Schatz: "This is not about money. There is enough money to bail out Argentina with $20b. There is enough money to purchase a brand new aircraft for $173m for Noem. There is enough money to renovate the WH ballroom. What there isn't enough money for under this Republican government is you."

Hey, so another piece of advice for people who are S-Corps: there is a company called Opolis that acts as your employer of record and will provide health insurance and other benefits.
If you're a writer/other creator in the United States, consider creating an LLC for your business and then signing up for a local area Chamber of Commerce. Many of them have health insurance plans that pool their members and members of other CoCs to create insurance efficiencies relative to ACA.

So I started scouring the internet. TikTok, Instagram, court docs, and local news sites, in Spanish and English.

It was hardly scientific. But I found senior citizens tackled. Pregnant women handcuffed. Kids detained. A veteran pulled out of his car on the way to work.

The videos were everywhere

Hi, I'm the ProPublica reporter who's been tracking an unusual stat: U.S. citizens grabbed by immigration agents.

I did it because the government isn’t.

This is what I found.

So are #Russian birth rates, for similar reasons. Wonder why.

Lowest in 200 years for Vladdy. He needs more cannon fodder.

Remember folks. The original bluesky ethos by us bluesky elders (apparently I count?) is block and move on.

Don't quote dunk, don't pick fights.
Block, and move on.

This is what made this site unpalatable to the right early on, and we can continue to make it unpalatable to them.
They shot the dog.

If it were a movie, this would be where the tide turns.
When you’ve pissed off WeRateDogs so much they’re calling you “fucking losers” on Main you have absolutely lost all merit in the court of public opinion
What major societal event did you miss, because of circumstances in your own life?

I missed hurricane Katrina, bc I was having my first child, & Gamergate, bc I was having my 4th.

MAGA has always obsessed over Epstein's involvement with Democrats, but who’s gonna tell them about Trump?

The constant framing of AI as an accessibility issue that breaks down barriers is completely at odds with the poor communities constantly fucked over in service of AI, the cost of it financially and environmentally and the cost of producing even the smallest most derivative crap.
It’s tiresome at this point, but again, their entire pitch is “wouldn’t it be great if there were no such things as talent, craft, and skill,” and what that means is a bland, slop-filled world. www.businessinsider.com/marc-andrees...
Screenshot this & post it everywhere! I've verified it w/ several local small biz owners.
Another form of resistance:

REMEMBER, swipe fees cost small businesses more money each year than EMPLOYEES.

When buying from a small business, pay cash as much as possible.

Use cards w/ corporations.
Dammit, they didn't do the data backup like I specifically asked for on the work order. 🙄
So I had to leave it there.
...at some point, but RIGHT THEN what I needed was MONEY.

Now this computer is incredibly out of date, & probably only good for doing eBay & learning programming .
"....I don't WANT to learn Linux. I don't WANT to learn programming right now. It won't help me move the needle towards my goals, but running a cheap Windows machine will."

It was the first time that I realized, "Learning new things isn't always helpful."
I would love to learn programming...
My giant computer.
I got it 5 years ago for like $300, from FB marketplace.
My husband had all of our computers running Linux.
Which was incompatible w/nearly every bit of software I needed for running a reselling business. 🙄
He INSISTED it would be easy for me to learn it.

I said, "No....

2. Rolling Stone is owned by a large media conglomerate, which is ending remote work across its brands.

My home is Portland, Oregon, ~1,000 miles from the nearest office, so this marks the end of the line for me at RS.

“Deplorables” was a scandal for years and she wasn’t even in the government yet. This is the White House Press Secretary, whose salary is paid by the American public.

Also on the protein thing: excess protein is really, really hard on your kidneys. And damaging your kidneys ends up being part of a renal-cardiac-circulatory mess that you +20 years wants no part of. If you’re both cutting calories and resistance training, consider whole foods and see a dietician.
