My clinic is at that location and every time I see our houseless neighbors assemble there I'm not afraid. I am, however, saddened that I can't do more to help, and angered that our civic "leader's" response is to destroy what little they have and push them off somewhere else.

Eric’s my neighbor & while we don’t always agree he’s a person of good faith. We also follow the same habitrails including biking Blaisdell’s drugged-out 2900 block & he’s right about it being a locus of human misery but also no real threat to passersby. (Frey Fences made it much worse this summer.)

I think this is the reason that you’re seeing such a nationwide backlash to his candidacy, not only from hard-core MAGA types, but from traditional centers of centrist power. He appears to be a generational political talent who isn’t corporate or white, and that’s a threat to a lot of people.

we’ll see how his mayoral tenure shakes out but i am convinced that Mamdani has the juice. not just the charisma to win an election but the temperament to govern and the measured pragmatism of someone who genuinely believes what they’re saying and wants to accomplish real things.
