See here’s the onion: how much blood do you need for an embrace? Do you really necessarily need the vampire to do it?
All you need to do essentially is drink the blood while on deaths door, preferably as you yourself lack blood.

The absolute shortest version is that even before things like anti-ship missiles, the battleship was obsolete. Arguably, it was rendered obsolete by the concept of "rifled cannons," but the main thing is that a battleship is huge, full of guns, and slow. These are all very bad for a ship.
