The White House claims the vote to rename the Kennedy Center was “unanimous.” That is false. I was muted on the call and denied the opportunity to speak or register my opposition. That is not consensus. That is censorship.

People trying to make the academic hiring process appear logical and systematic- in any direction- are misunderstanding the academic hiring process.
Academic hiring is idiosyncratic. I’ve seen top candidates disqualified for a bad joke. The most noxious people on the internet were disqualified because no one would want such a horribly unpleasant colleague. Anti-white discrimination is not born out by the demographics of the profession.

Here are the 28 Dem Senators who voted to advance the first federal ban on trans athletes & a federal definition of sex that would make trans & intersex people non-existent: Angela Alsobrooks (MD), Tammy Baldwin (WI), Richard Blumenthal (CT), Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE), Chris Coons (DE), ->
By a vote of 76-23, S 1071 passes the motion to proceed to the motion to concur. Won't know who voted for this until the roll call is uploaded, but safe to say it passed with the support of at least 24 members of the Democratic caucus. (Rand Paul probably voted nay and Steve Daines has been absent).

There will be no meaningful national gun laws because the country collectively decided that trying to meaningfully address gun violence is a cardinal sin.
on this day in 2012, 20 children and 6 adults are killed in mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT. And with the awful shooting at Brown University yesterday, we still haven't done anything on meaningful national gun laws. Enough is enough.
