This first amendment passed after some vigorous debate over what constitutes "defunding police" or "bashing police over the head."
Here's the series of three budget amendments cutting a portion of the $3.3 million budget for the mayor's office.

The first one restores $1.4 million in housing vouchers - reallocating 1.1m from MPD and 300k from the mayor's office.

I wish I could spend 20 million dollars that I don’t have then when anyone complained some weirdos would be like “why are you bringing up old shit?”
Palmisano frustrated at having to hear so many times that MPD overspent their budget by $20 million, says the council will learn more about that on Monday and that her colleagues are "bashing police over the head."

Chughtai: "Nobody's bashing police over the head. Literally nobody is."

more feminist caucus fallout: here is the police report cd5 candidate latonya reeves filed against nick kruse. weirdly, she lied and gave police a family member's address over north instead of her own ward 7 address, which is public as part of her FEC filing

she felt he had threatened her 1/2

in the terroristic threats latonya reeves reported nick kruse making against her on twitter, MPD did not find that "the threats perceived by the victim rise to a level that would justify further investigation" and closed the case, also noting that an actual threat was not even posted by kruse 2/2
