Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

Same in Chicago. It is horrific. Hard to explain to people who aren't here.
It’s the same in DC. They make arrests so quickly before word can spread and crowds can gather so I really do not think almost anyone here realizes the scale. But at least 14 people that I know of were taken from my part of town yesterday alone.
Don’t think ppl understand the terror the Feds are unleashing on the streets of LA right now. Roving patrols targeting vulnerable individuals. It’s horrible.

There’s no one coming to save us except ourselves.

So am I reading this court decision correctly? We now have 50 micronations with their own laws interpreting the U.S. Constitution wholly separate from one another? But there's one guy with private law enforcement who is immune from all punishment who can do whatever he wants in those 50 states?

one of the really remarkable things about America's court theocracy is that there's a total lack of accountability - no interviews, no press appearances, no elections, no actual Congressional oversight, a completely bankrupt system.
John Roberts has finally produced his own Dred Scott decision. He must be so proud of what he has wrought.

Historians will indeed remember Roberts.
In infamy. I wonder if he hears that in his social life, in his fawning rightwing cocktail party circles.
New in PN: SCOTUS clears the path for Trump's network of global gulags

"With one paragraph, the Court undercut lower court judges and consigned countless immigrants to be renditioned to a system of gulags. It will have lasting corrosive effects on American civil society and respect for the courts."

I’m sharing a Palestinian account every day and today is Asmaa. Asmaa was a lawyer who had studied international law. She is now struggling to survive with her extended family including her sisters Soso, 6 and Sama, 12. She is engaged and her fiancee lives in Finland and runs her fundraiser.

As someone who has reported on AI for 7 years and covered China tech as well, I think the biggest lesson to be drawn from DeepSeek is the huge cracks it illustrates with the current dominant paradigm of AI development. A long thread. 1/
